Yes, the above comments are great. Amazing and beautiful song. I think it is filled with love. I would love it, if someone plays a song like that to me. |

I think Maynard wrote it thinking: "How does one feels in Orestes' shoes?". It is an absolutely great interpretation of the myth. |

I hear "mumbo jumbo" chanting. And this is exactly what the lyrics is all about. Like everything that came from Sully Erna. I can't stop wondering why people buy into him as he puts no meaning into his work. Oh yes he is a sinner. A sinner to music and arts being an honest endeavor. |

About the pain that cuts you. The pain from the coldness of other people. And it always repeats itself. I hope we all can turn the heaters on! |

Yes, I too think it is about the human condition, all of us want to know, we all dream, but more or less to no use. The change of rhythm and the screeching guitars are mind blowing, only to prove that Paradise Lost is an absolutely great band. Yes! |

Truly great lyrics, they do race on. Describe very vividly how shame feels. |

I could not agree more. Down with the "addict card when we play music". And ultimately addict or not, still what's more important is the music. |

| Morphine – Empty Box Lyrics

He waits impatiently to see what is in the box, under the cover "I tore open the package". There is nothing in the box. She replies something like "Well there could have been something if you ever gave me anything at the first place". She insists on making him gave her something "Fill it up and send it back" or she could just have said: "Try one more time but this time harder". He wouldn't fill it up. Then follows a crises of "Where I am, who I am, what's the point?". Which reminds him that he is always in this crises and if he sees an empty box (a ready woman) he can try to rest on her for a while. |

This song sounds like he is obviously very intimate with someone "I know you...". But what's then with these "shaking hands"? Sounds like he actually has only business relation with this woman. |

Hardly any feeling of suicide. It is honestly very sexual. And she was very obliging, she told him like "Please don't stop talking" and then "More, more, more". Definitely about hooking up with someone. |

It has the feeling of having a great conversation with someone and just before the obvious flirting occurs. Awesome indeed. |

| Godsmack – Love-Hate-Sex-Pain Lyrics
|
I find these words very incoherent and lacking originality. My mental capacities as a part of humanity do not detect meaning. The first verse can serve as an example. I believe the songwriter compensated the lack of meaning with appearance of meaning - what is behind those words was never lived, at least I believe so.
Godsmack did it again.
The positive - they got back to their roots as a cover band of Alice In Chains. For those not familiar with the latter they have songs named: Love, Hate, Love, Confusion (lyrics from Confusion chorus: "Love, sex, pain, confusion, suffering..."). Both songs are from one album.
And Godsmack is a song by Alice In Chains from another album.

Reminds me of "emptiness is loneliness, and loneliness is cleanliness and cleanliness is godliness", it is different though. And excellent. |

| Pink Floyd – Poles Apart Lyrics

I think it is about love for a woman, excuse I differ from all the previous comments :) It does link to 'What do you want from me' and 'Coming Back to Life" ..and probably to more from the album. The only flaw here is in the first verse "boy" (obviously not a woman)...hard to fix it eloquently in the meaning... |

oh and I cannot agree that there is any substantial evidence in the lyrics that can be interpreted that the song is about the fall of comunism in Eastern Europe. |

To me, the key word to fully understand the song is "waiting" towards the end... It makes a great twist in the atmoshere of the song.
One of the greatest pieces of poetry ever. |

One of the greatest pieces ever... a song about powerfull positive energy.. Though the lyrics are not completely the same as the recorded song.. It is quite obvious what the song is about, what Andrew Wood did with his music and fans "pick the crowd up and carry in [his] hands to the promised land". This songs does it everytime to me :D |

It is an honour to be the first to comment this brilliant song....
I think it is about the human condition, we all are dying slowly, though we keep forgetting it when we are engaged in the habit of everyday. |

to me the song is about not lingering on smth bad happened but just go on, don't waiste time, one might be surpised on how good it gets as soon as one stops reflecting on a problem and just moves on, I found the song very energising. |

| Alice in Chains – Love, Hate, Love Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
to me, the song is a perfect blend of poignant meloncholy and anguish... what is said is that because of one's sickhead one cannot really be and act in a relationship the way would like to... One of the most intense songs ever, people who can relate to this one are extremely sensitive, as the one who wrote it. It can be also about loving and wanting someone who will in a way plays innocently and casually about the relationship.... |
