Turin Brakes – Road To Nowhere Lyrics 19 years ago
In the past, I have cried my eyes out hearing this song. My mother had breast cancer at the time and my uncle had just died, and this song perfectly mirrored my worries about pain and death ('It seems everyone is dying or curling up in pain') and my feelings about the randomness of it all: "which consumer will you crush and which will you let by".. It's just SO beautiful!!

Turin Brakes – Mind Over Money Lyrics 19 years ago
Oohh re-reading it now, the bit about 'I take it back yeah, whatever I did yeah, I didn't mean it; I was only joking', that could be him apologizing when he accidentaly told her that he loved her or something like that. Which would explain why she would be leaving the hotel.

The blood could indeed be a reference to suicide/self-harm, because he feels that bad about the whole thing. First because he doesn't want to feel what he feels (love for the woman) and then because he's told about his feelings and she left..

It could be about an affair with a prostitute.. That would explain the 'mind over money' and the fact that there's 'nothing in there'.. It's just business for her, without any love or romance. The 'light up my life like a very last cigarette' is about the guy, I guess he's lonely and enjoys her company and although he wants to quit it, he's addicted to her (telling himself over and over that it's the last time they meet, but it never is). 'Staring at ceilings, it doesn't really matter were we are' would then be about the places they meet.. Probably cheap hotels.

While all this is happening, the guy worries about it all.. He's worried about her businesslike approach and about his own loneliness. He thinks he's got it all under control, but he feels bad about it all. And at the end of the song you can hear a door.. Sort of like she's leaving him behind.

The Veils – The Wild Son Lyrics 19 years ago
I've been thinking about this, and can't help thinking it's based on the novel Wuthering Heights...
It somehow reminds me of Heathcliff.. The first couplet suggests revenge (Heathcliff marrying Isabella), I'm not sure what to think of the second, but the 'hoodlum skin' brings up an image of a rough man like Heathcliff.

'Darling I need you far more than I say' seems a thought of Catherine..

'A great light dims everyday I'm torn from him' is also Catherine, who grows completely insane when she's cut away from Heathcliff..

What do you think?
