Barenaked Ladies – If I Had A $1000000 Lyrics 3 years ago
For me the key to the meaning of this song is in the last couple of lines. The rest of the song is a funny fantasy list of ways you could buy somebody's love. Right at the end it is clear that isn't necessary to buy these things or buy love from this person, and having a lot of money would just make you rich! Pretty cute.

Camp Cope – Flesh and Electricity Lyrics 6 years ago
I see this as a song about the experience of nursing, and mortality. I think Georgia Maq studied nursing.

The line "like the antagonist from that book" refers to the book Atonement by Ian McEwan which features main characters who become nurses during the story.

The Lucksmiths – Fiction Lyrics 8 years ago
For me this song is about the concept of writing and stretching the truth. In the lyrics, we here about the writer and the tattoed girl discussing their dedication to be readers and writers of fiction. This is prompted by her tattoo. If the writer is telling the truth about this, then they are not writing fiction. The answer to 'why would I lie to you?' is because the song is about a love of fiction. Why would I lie to you?

Cold Chisel – Flame Trees Lyrics 19 years ago
I disagree with the comments about the death of a girl. That was my first impression before "But Ah! Who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway
Takes more than just a memory to make me cry". That would be a bit harsh if somebody had died- if there is ever a time for sentiment it is when somebody dies. "The girl that got away" seems to me like the much more likely explanation.
