| The Decemberists – I Don't Mind Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
As for the last verse, "Here's you with your mom on your back Going into the woods She's so proud that you're staying on track Like a good son should But you don't know why you got All choked up when you said goodbye And you can hear her still when the nights are still All crying out for calamine " Calamine is for the treatment of inflammatory conditions of the skin. So I think that either, his mother had a disease he didn't want to catch, or maybe she was "crying out for calamine" after he dumped her there, because she caught some poison ivy or something. I can't think of any skin conditions that kill tho, but then again medicine wasn't as advanced back, whenever. Most Decemberist songs take place far away, and long ago, so I'm just assuming this song does as well. |

Seven flowers on the hour cry "We are groaning for the sons, Of the One who makes us sing, To reveal themselves this spring" Song Of Solomon 2:12 "Airplane faith is in your hand" Airplane faith is temporary faith. Like when you're flying and you hit heavy turbulance, you get really scared and start praying to God... but as soon as everything is better, you forget about God and how you begged him to save you. Through the fire and the river But never ever all alone, When He set the broken bone, Hell the grave fell overthrown The fire and river represents hell, i think. And in Greek, 'Hades' means grave, and can also mean grave by the interpolated version. On heals Kingdom Come Comfort creme pours out We pray that the will of God be done here on the earth just as it is in heaven. People in heaven are not sick, so it is God's will that we also be free from sickness. A.B.C. is a type of bible study where you take notes and "challenge" yourself. We live in two worlds, unseen and seen For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal there are many story and bible references in this song, it's hard to name them all. |

| Björk – I've Seen It All Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i like the sassy lines in this heartbreaking song: "What about China? Have you seen the Great Wall? All walls are great, if the roof doesn't fall." this is one of those song that makes me wish i had wrote it. this song has a new meaning to me, because my grandma has just lost her vision completely within the last 2 years or so. the last verse: "You've seen it all and all you have seen You can always review on your own little screen The light and the dark, the big and the small Just keep in mind - you need no more at all You've seen what you were and know what you'll be You've seen it all - you don't need to see." is beautiful, and i can't help but cry when i think of how i would like my grandmother to hear it. you don't need to see. |

| Nico – These Days Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"these days" was on jackson browne's album "for everyman", released in 1973. "these days" was originally released on nico's "chelsea girl" album in 1968. paul morrissey arranged for nico to sing in a small bar underneath the dom called stanley's. after a few weeks of nico singing alone unknown folk singer tim buckley was hired to accompany her. later he was replaced with an unknown jackson browne who morrissey discovered sitting at the bar - jackson browne having come there to hear tim buckley. browne ended up writing some of the tracks on nico's first solo album, chelsea girl as well as performing on it. jackson browne then lived with nico for a bit. |
