| Tom Waits – The Ghosts of Saturday Night (After Hours at Napoleone's Pizza House) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
"He dreams of a waitress with Maxwell House eyes And marmalade thighs, with *scRaMBLed* yellow hair." If I had to choose one lyric which sums up the genius of Tom Waits, I often think this would have to be it. |

| I Fight Dragons – The Faster The Treadmill Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think its about escaping the rat race. Anyone who has ever had a mundane office job will be able to relate to this track Oh, and its awesome. |

| Erykah Badu – You Got Me (with The Roots) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I dont think this song needs explaining. Its fairly obvious what its about just by listening, theres no hidden cryptic meanings like some songs. But despite not being a rap fan, its one of the most beautiful songs in my collection. I used to listen to it lots a few years ago, but tonight is the first time I heard it in a long time, and it makes me happy :-) |

| Metric – Patriarch on a Vespa Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
> Vespa sounds like a cute, modernized reference to > Vesta, as in Vestal Virgin Sorry, but a Vespa is a brand of scooter. Hence why the Patriarch "runs a red and gets crushed under the wheel". Definitely a song about the fear of getting old, and what the future holds for you |

| Metric – The List Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song really doesnt need any deep analysis Its about people stumbling into fame and riches, basically Z-list celebs (although The List obviously refers to the hotel list and not Z-list). "All dressed down to catch a whiff of the buzz" then later "All dressed up to catch a glimpse of the list" and "Broken accidental stars" makes it all pretty obvious Great great track though :) |

| Metric – Raw Sugar Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this songs about monotony, about being stuck in a rut as someone else said (same black day). The time in your life when things arent bad, but not that great either (summer never comes, but neither does winter). It ties in to poverty too (high rise grave). Why Raw sugar? Its the cheapest form of sweetness, and sometimes thats the best some people can hope for (Ferment on the wishbone). |

| The Killers – Somebody Told Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
> whatever this song means I think it's pathetic. > A poor excuse of a song and a way to get easy money. Well considering you think its pathetic, its odd you chose to search for the lyrics |

| The Killers – Somebody Told Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |

well I think sometimes song lyrics have a lot of meaning, and other times their just a bit of fun and dont really mean much I think this song is the latter, dont read too much into it :-) What a great song though |

| Panic! at the Disco – There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Ahh this is such a complex and pleasing song on so many levels. I really like it. Heres my interpretation of it, ill say it like its fact, but of course, its just my opinion... The narrator (singer?) is attending a formal awards ceremony. His ex lover is there too, as he expected. She's very superficial, fashionable, and SHALLOW: < Please leave all overcoats, canes, and top hats with the doorman. And from that moment, you'll be out of place and underdressed > Hes here purely to make a scene. To embarrass her. Maybe get revenge? for what, its not clear < I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it When you're in black slacks with accentuating off-white pinstripes, whoa-oh Everything goes according to plan > Shes really shocked and horrified to see him here. < And you can't stand it I know because you say so under your breath You're reading lips > But his plans working well, and her image is ruined < Tonight, tonight, you are, you are the whispering campaign. To them, your name is "Cheap", and you look like sh--. Talk to the mirror, choke back tears And keep telling yourself that, "I'm a diva." > But hey, hes not finished yet. He has one final and fantastic trump card up his sleeve < Oh, and the smokes in that cigarette box at your table. They just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin I've never been so surreptitious So of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch > Ahhh, poor girl |
