| This song is amazing. Don't let anyone tell you any different if you like this song. This song helped me a few times. It also saved a friend of mine. To me, this song is about walking alone, being rejected... not being understood just because of your "differences" even though everyone's different. However, this song is also uplifting. It's about not giving up. It's about keeping going even though you want to stop so badly. That's why it's such an important song, and often overlooked. If you haven't experienced this kind of thing, you will not like this song. Simple as that. Don't hate on a song just because you can't relate. It could mean the world to someone else. | |

My favorite Pumpkins song. Basically he's saying only the main character thinks only weak people show feelings. So this person here is bottling everything up. Someone asks the main character "what's the matter?" and she just responds with "what's the difference?"... basically over time it feels like people don't care, so we just keep stuff inside. We think that it makes us stronger, but it really doesn't. However, as I say this, I do bury my heart in a hole most of the time. This is a hopeless song, I agree with you, wolfperson1. But it's also very helpful in a strange way. |

So, after listening to song a lot in the fast few days (haven't been sleeping much... therefore I listen to a song with 'sleep' in the title, it makes perfect sense to me...)... I guess I'm finally able to figure out what it means. At first, I thought 'she' was a metaphor for sleep. It can still be taken that way though. But since he can't sleep... and he isn't relaxed or at peace... he needs the person he's looking for... he isn't able to sleep restfully. Until the girl loves him, he is in sleep's arms, instead of the girl's arms. Sleep is where he goes at night, because she won't stay with him. There's a part of him that believes she won't want to be with him, so he wants her to feel his pain. He almost regrets this, because the "for you" at the end is sung so sweetly. He doesn't want just anyone, but her. Other than that, this is the perfect unrequited love song. As many people said before, no matter how tempting the thought may be, never let the one you love listen to this song. Well, they can listen to it on their own, just don't make them listen to it. It's just an all-around bad idea. |
