| John Mayer – Half of My Heart (feat. Taylor Swift) Lyrics
| 16 years ago

I think this song is about a guy that cares for/loves a girl, but not enough, and even though he realizes that it's not fair to her or him to continue to care for/be with/love her half heartedly, he can't make himself love her with all of his heart.
I think the line, "half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring and half of my heart is the part of a man who's never truly loved anything" perfectly summarizes that sentiment. A shotgun wedding isn't something done out of love, it's done out of obligation with the paper ring symbolizing a fragile bond. If things between the guy and the girl continue the way they are going it would lead to him marrying her because he feels should, rather than him wanting to. Paper breaks/tears at the first sign of stress when it's wet, torn, burned; it can't withstand much.
And the half of his heart that's never truly loved anything is the same half that loves her, half heartedly, which, isn't true love at all.

I like to think this song is about zombies. But really, it's just a personal preference; there are so many ways this song can be interpreted. |

Did anyone get the "You're the best around" Karate Kid reference at the end? A friend of mine pointed it out. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I wouldn't put it past him. Sly fox. |

I was trying to figure that part out, too.
Is she saying, Ill take care of you ("tell me what you want, baby, tell me what you need"), and you take care of me ("anything I ask, baby, give it to me").
Other than that, I'm out. |

I thought the lyrics were
"But you're advertising louder now."
and
"My flirting with disaster is modern love." |

Wow, there are so many interpretations of this song, and they are all plausible explanations. But when I think of the line "they build buildings so tall these days" from a what goes up must come down viewpoint. Meaning, there's a consequence for whatever choice a person makes. So for me, the context of the song is that this woman chooses to drink herself into oblivion and he chooses to believe that will change. |

| Under The Influence Of Giants – Can't Stand Lyrics

I noticed that, but I went and pirated it, and it was tagged under their name. The lead singer and the guitarist were Home Town Hero, then the keyboardist joined and they became Under the Influence of Giants, then the bassist joined the group later.
They're al lth same to me, only one's more funky. |
