This is an incredible song. I first heard it on an episode of CSI, and after searching tirelessly for it, i finally found out what it was. To me, the song is talking about someone who just feels like they've been trying so hard for so long at life, and just can't seem to get it right, and then finds someone (or something) that accepts them. The underlying lesson is to have faith that we are all here for something ("Everything is as it should") |

| I agree that this is about life teaching you, the individual a lesson. but Ian anderson was famously anti-religion. He makes many sarcastic references to gods in his songs, and was mostly against the catholic church. So i don't think he's referring to god, more like just life in general | |
