I wouldn't have thought I'm alone in thinking that "Golden Touch" was a truly stunning song - an instant classic - and that all of their other output has fallen far, far short of that.

The radio parts were influenced by a car journey Homme took through the desert, and all he could get the whole time were two crappy Spanish-language radio stations.

Then again, you can never believe anything that the band says in interview - they bullshit a lot. Which is great!

There's no metaphors or hidden meanings, it simpy is about an a hemaphradite.

That's why he talks about giving himself roses, or not taking offence whe people tell him to "fuck himself" - because he (theoretically at least) can.

The last chorus doesn't start with "she said". Could this possibly be the narrator in a subsequent relationship, but as he's unable to get over the previous girl he isn't able to love like that again?
