Wow, I can't believe I'm the first to comment on this.... Self-explanatory song if you listen.... They were perfect for each other. In the beginning all their friends thought it was just a fling - they'd never actually start a real relationship. All her so-called friends kept trying to keep them apart, most likely out of jealousy. To add more fuel to the fire, her friends are saying that he works all the time to be with other girls when actually he's working for the money and to buy her gifts. He knows that they have been telling stories because they want to get with him...lol. So he's just telling her that he does love her and wants to know if she feels the same way too. |

I don't necessarily think he is saying that he messed up the relationship but he has made mistakes, who hasn't? I think that even though there were arguments he still needs her and loves her. But since she's gone he's half the man he thought he'd be. He is still willing to give it another shot though - if she'll take what's left of him. I kinda boycotted this song for a while because I had grown tired of Nick and Jessica. But after hearing how much he still loves her I decided to give it a try and i really like it a lot. |

Humans are creatures of routine yet when we find one we feel the need to break from it... Every day is exactly the same thing. i agree with emo_ezralite...this is such a great song and only a handful of people know who sings it. the same can be said for pretty much all of their music though. i think this song is about two people getting back together after breaking up. he wants to be in love - to feel the same way, but maybe not necessarily with his ex. so regardless of what happens between them, he will be ok. or if they both missed each other, they love each other but it will never work because they can't overcome themselves - they arent "brave enough". |

I generally agree how this song could easily be made to fit a child abuse storyline. The first kid is in such shock from being abuse that his hair turns white, not literally of course. The girl was abused and had marks all over her body which she had no way of explaining to her peers. The kids in the first 2 verses are affected by things out of their control - physical abuse. Yet they would rather be afraid of their parents than have parents who force them to accept religious beliefs and shape who they are as a person. Or maybe they weren't abused at all and all of us are trying to make too much out of this song. I know some kids whose hair naturally turned white in patches and of course there are kids with birthmarks. The kids are not embarrassed by their personal physical traits that they cannot change but realize that it is embarrassing to have domineering parents. I think the mmmmms are more of a pondering sound than a mocking tone. |

To me, this song is about someone not emotionally ready to enter a relationship with the other person even though they may have been together. And now that they are not together - separted by distance and time, the main character realizes that he/she made the other person wait around for him/her to become emotionally available and how badly he/she needs to be with the other person. I think this is a beautiful song. From the moment I bought the cd last year until now it has been at the top of my most played list. I love how sincere the main character is and how the lyrics are not written from the viewpoint of a man or awoman because these are feelings that anyone can feel. |
