I thought this song might be about a hallucinogenic trip; how it can become harder to determine the true nature of reality i.e. how is waking, sober life more "real" than the inner world and the imagination? Have we never woken up, and each day of our lives are just slipping deeper into a "dream within a dream?" This song may also be about repetition in every aspect of our lives, in the dream we live in: hence the "hunter and the fisherman" stanza, which shows the endless repetition in life that blurrs each day into all the others that came before in our memory. So perhaps this song is about the realization that we live in this repetitious dream cycle, and the subsequent struggle to wake up from it, which is reflected in the lines "I'm sweating, and breathing, and staring, and thinking, and sinking, deeper, and it's almost like I'm swimming." The swimming metaphor fits too: we are "swimming" in our consciousness, and sinking ever deeper while we desperately trying to keep our heads above water to breath... |

| You can find this song on any file sharing network. I think its a song Maynard did with another group back in about '97, a rhythm experimentation group or something. Maynard does some supremely awesome Eastern vocals on this one. | |
