We're all forgetting Yoni's suicidal side in this song... I mean, when he played at the ottobar, he prefaced the only hymie's basement song with "this wasn't isn't about suicide... unlike the rest of them." He was kind of kidding, of course, but most of the songs really are suicidal (rubber traits and light leaves really don't even try to suggest otherwise.
I think the whole diversion between wolf and the girl is the fact that yoni isn't really planning on living that much longer. I mean, the whole thing is so heavily filled with death images, he says shit like "will you still remember me if i don't get to two oh oh five," he's wondering if the girl will love him when he's dead.
It hads a really depressing edge to the song, but it's a helluvalot more powerful. |

drugs are certainly a factor in some of these lyrics. "abosrbed and collected in the glands of fatty tissues" refers to the storage of THC (active ingredient in mariuana) in the body, as it's stored in the fat long after the effects have worn off; that's what shows up on drug tests. the meaning is unresolved, but don't nix the drug factor. |

Very lovely suicide piece, which fits in pretty perfectly with the rest of the elephant eyelash CD. For a very, very similar piece, see Cex's "Kill Me," which is also a fantastic song similar in tone if not style. I especially love the image of the tiny bone hands of the leaves. |
