there are a couple of really good interviews in the latest issues of revolver and alt. press and cory talks about the lyrics in this song specifically:

he is talking about how Christians so readily prosecute one another for not having the true faith or whatever, when Christians should love everyone equally. i love the fact that Norma Jean is a Christian band and they will tackle hard subjects like this one...its what makes them one of, if not the, premeire heavy band out there, Christian or not. |

this song is about PEOPLE in the church who make judgements of other people and try to scare people into living a good life.
this is not one of the typical "anti-church/anti-organized religion song." seriously, akissforjersey is above one of those songs. if i had a dollar for every crappy anti-government/anti-organized religion song i would be a millionaire.
plus, their music is Amazing...see them live, you won't regret it. |

sounds like what most people are saying is true, in the first verse a guy who is doing on all of things for this girl and saying he loves her just so that he can get sex. the chourus talks about why he feels justified in having sex.
the second verse the girl sees right through him in the end after her 'dumb' decision, and at the end the guy talks about he is 'never satisfied', which probably means that he has done this before and cant get enough, while the very dark part of him says that 'another one will fall tonight'. in other words, he thinks he'll get one more girl.

i doubt this is what it means, but what it could mean is that there was this guy they knew in high school or college or something, and he wasn't exactly the nicest guy around, and the narrartor befriended him, but he kind of was a jerk and backstabbed the narrorator. the narrorator probably told him about GOD or something, and then later on in life when this guy is an afterthought, the narrorator is in the country of illinois and he sees this guy broken down who is a bum, and its the same guy from earlier. now all of sudden the guy wants to be the narrorators friend when he has nothing left, when he doesnt have GOD. then the narrorator says 'i guess you don't have faith' and drives on.
i doubt its what it means but its a wicked song. |

wow, let another korn fan who agrees with jon just because jon said it. what 'proof' do you speak of? no GOD. o, i get it. you think because you watched the six o'clock news and you saw more of the war on Iraq, and your girlfriend dumped you last week so obviously there is no GOD. we were obviously just put here for chance for no real meaning in our lives.
i cant believe how naive some korn fans are. head did what made him happy, because he had blown a couple of marriages and was addicted to drugs. if any of you are korn fans, you should be happy for head that he is living a fulfulling life that is making him happy. i can understand where jon is coming from in not being happy with head, but if he doesnt like what head says about him, why does he write songs about how is a hypocrite? what jon is doing is no better than what he thinks head did.
overall i enjoy this new song from korn. i have always loved the music, and i am glad that they can still change their sound. maybe im not a fan of what jon thinks about GOD or his anti head lyrics, but i still love the music. |

the only reason why this sounds a little like tetragrammaton is because without incubus, i dont think that the mars volta would be as good. dont get me wrong, i love the volta and i think that they are tremendous, but i think that incubus is the the doors of this generation. they are like nothing that anyone has ever heard and they influence so many different areas of music.

i can see where you would think that stick to your guns, but on zao's official site they have a story behind some of the songs and dan said that he wrote this song about how one time this kid came up to him and said that dan couldnt be christian based on the music that they wrote and played live, and he was basically judging him. some of the lyrics in this song are almost tounge in cheek about how some christians believe that zao cannot be a band of chirstians. awesome song though. |

the breakdown in this song is truly phenomonal. i also think that this is that the best song on The Funeral of God. everyone has already hit the nail on the head with the meaning, and i will admit the first time i heard of zao was on headbangers ball when i saw the video for the rising end (the first prophesy) and i thought they were some sort of anti-christ band. but when i did some research i found out about the theory of this album. then i really started to get into zao and all of their earlier stuff. i really like the album where blood and fire bring rest, their second best album. |

aside from all the pointless bickering...
one thing i have to say after reading all of the comments up to this point is that you do not have to be christian to believe in heaven. now i dont know if maynard wrote it this way and im not going to pretend to know, but i have been a catholic my whole life and i am proud of it, but i am also a tool fan. i think that maynard might have a certain level of spirituality to him based on some of the lyrics that he wrote for tool and apc.
for me personally, i think that this song is the best on 10,000 days. the lyrics match the music so well and the sounds of the storm in the background are truly astounding. while im not sure yet where it ranks on my list of tool albums, it is by far the best album of 2006 so far, and i dont think anything else will pass it. if this doesnt win album of the year at the grammys it will be the travesty of the year. i mean, how can beyonce knowles have 9 grammys for writing the same song 400 times and tool write new and exciting music over and over again, actuallly taking time to sit down and write real lyrics with real music, yet at the end of the year get no recognition at all.
