| Aesop Rock – Daylight Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Actually I think hip-hop has some of the deepest and most beautiful lyrics out there. I don't mean to seem condescending but have you had a proper listen to stuff like Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Dälek, Mr. Lif, El-P...there's so many really good lyricists out there. I think the thing is, there's not much mainstream music of any genre that has any meaningful lyrics because the lyrics need to be accessible to a target audience; that audience being as many people as possible who will buy records of that genre. I mean for example, I live in UK where jangly-indie-electro is pretty popular and it seems like every song I ever hear on the radio or in a club is just the same lines about sex and love rearranged, because that's what appeals to the target audience. I bet I'd probably find some music of that genre with decent lyrics or decent music and production if I looked. Anyway, I'm not disagreeing with you not liking Aesop Rock. I love him personally but y'know, each to their own. It's just I don't think you should be so quick to condemn hip-hop and assume that Aes is the only guy out there kicking out decent lyrics. Anyway, peace, lets not argue, I'd like to hear your opinions. |

I always assumed it was straps and boots, I might be wrong though. It just seems unlikely to me that a Danish band would be using an English colloquialism |

| It's about a housewife who gets bored of her life so she goes and robs a bank. Aces! | |

| I like songyone's interpretation, I really can't settle on what it means myself. | |
| Radiohead – All I Need Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The line "I am an animal trapped in your hot car" is really sad. This is probably one of my favourite Radiohead songs, for lyrics. (not going to bother posting my interpretation, I think enough people have hit enough nails on the head) |

thanks for the interview, that's really cool I think it's perfect when the "Do you still pray about me..." bit kicks in |

| I do approve of funnysmartname's interpretation. | |

I kinda liked it when I was hearing my own version of the lyrics instead of the official ones. It's not spoiled it but...well, yeah actually, it's kinda spoiled it. Still aces though. Seems to be a general theme of subservience throughout the song..I think I stand by my original interpretation. Still, I like the "all you human beings" bit less than I liked "all you need" |

| Tunng – fair doreen Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I get the impression that it's about a prostitute? Just because of the first couple of lines really. I think the singer is basically saying although everyone reckons this girl is immoral and evil or whatevs she's actually an innocent person. Maybe she's just lost her way or come into trouble somehow? But she'll be forgiven. |

They introduced it as a short song about something dirty when I saw them. Lyrics are pretty self explanatory! I really like this song. |

| Circle Takes the Square – Non-Objective Portrait of Karma Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Some of my favourite lyrics ever, I pretty much agree with Tick Tock, seems to me a bit misanthropic. I love how cryptic it is and how unusual some of the metaphors are | |
| Radiohead – Reckoner Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I always heard the like "does it for the pleasure" as "dancing for your pleasure", I hope that one's right because it kinda means more to me..in my mind it seems like being hopeless and besotted, like he's doing anything for the person he loves but to no avail? Then again, that only fits with some of the lines anyway. With lyrics I'm very much in the "what the song means to you" rather than the "what the song meant to the author" interpretation camp! |

| Interpol – Specialist Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I haven't seen the film The Specialist but is it anything to do with spies? I always think the song is about two spies who are in love, I have a feeling that that's hilariously wrong? |

| Radiohead – Myxomatosis. (Judge, Jury, & Executioner.) Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I think this song is about about fame and it's affect on someone. I don't know if Thom's writing it from his own point of view or as someone else. In the first verse he's only just found fame and he's still cocky about it and enjoying himself: '"I been where I liked", "I slept with who I like"' 'New found friends' probably refers to all of the new people fawning over him now he's famous and sucessful. Not sure about the last bit of this verse, it might be refering to people fucking him about and using him. In the second verse the first bit 'i sat in the cupboard and wrote it down neat' is presumabley refering to him writing his songs on his own and how he likes. But later on his original ideas get "edited fucked up strangled beaten up", presumabley by producers and record companies attempting to make his music more public friendly or something. The 'cheering and waving' bit is obviously the fans. The rest of the verse is about him being pulled from all directions, doing shows and photoshoots etc. The last verse mostly seems to be about how he feels it has all affected him. 'my thoughts are misguided and a little naive' is probably about him feeling that he's being by other people. He uses the disease myxamatosis as he feels that the pressure of fame and success has driven him insane. 'yeah no one likes a smart ass but we all like stars but that wasn't my intention, I did it for a reason ' I think is fairly self explainatory. He wanted stardome but now he has it it's not what he wanted it to be. That was my first song analysis on here :) |
