| Joan Osborne – One Of Us Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh, one of these nights at about 12 o'clock, this old earth's gonna reel and rock. saints will tremble and cry for pain, cuz the Lord's gonna come in his heavenly airplane... | |

oh and i just listened to the live version. the last lines are: you spend the rest of your life looking for the adult you are, and you spend the rest of your life looking for the child you were, and you spend most of your life looking for the man you are, and you spend the rest of your life looking for that kid you were... and you spend the rest- the rest of your life paying off that damn car... |

"goddamn i am such a jerk - i can't do anything..." i say that to myself all the time. it's something you say from your heart. trust me. |

| Built to Spill – Broken Chairs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| going away from your happy spot / quieted garden, to transform into something unattractive / another broken chair [aka one who has to support so much in everyday life yet still have to keep doing it while you're already useless]. it makes the world look like a cheapskate. | |
| Mika – Happy Ending Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| The Unicorns – Let's Get Known Lyrics | 19 years ago |

this tune repeats "working real hard" a lot. i think she's setting a goal for once in her life, but since it seems too big, she's trying to get a friend to do it with her - as well as comparing Hard Work to ants and how it can't be that big a deal and maybe she'd achieve, make it. "let's have 3 spotlights shining with all our work shown" most people don't want every detail of their artworks public or uncovered, so that line just feels uncareful, spontaneous. yes. |

| Placebo – Infra-Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Yes, it is about insanity, but just listen to the catchy beat of this song!!! The way that Bribri is singing this makes me want to smile so huge, like, "Ohoh he's reeally having funn." So he's about to shuffle off the planet, right? If you don't "value" your own life, you damn right don't value someone else's [just a hunch, hehe], so he goes: "I will be the one to watch you fall" - which sounds like this is a pretty heart-happy ocassion for him. Oh, yes, and I also believe that this song points out the feeling of freedom. Whilst you have this whole rush of "Oh god I really want to do this", and you finally kill the person that you dreamt of killing so many times, you feel accomplished... At least until the freedom/"crazy" rush wares off and you're back to shitty reality again. *sigh* |

| The Velvet Underground – Heroin Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Oh my goodness, mleurck, that's really terrible, but your story caught my eye because I always wanted this song to be my suicide note as well... Mostly the fault of daydreams; but it's just too comforting a song to leave down when you've got the mixed feelings it's got too. Often, everyday mixed feelings, perhaps? "I wish that I was born a thousand years ago... On a great big clipper ship, going from this land here to that, all in a sailor's suit and cap... Oh and I guess I just don't know." Oh yes, perfect. I listened to this song when I had a fever and it honestly just had to cure me. I listen to it when I'm stressed and got migranes too---because everything, all of itself, is just so perfect. |

| Placebo – Every You Every Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |

When this major wannabe-poseur skaterboi came up to my reputation of being an unbelievable Brian Molko lookalike, he said, "Yeah, it was in a skater video and I thought it was phaaaat!!!" Then I just kind of sprouted all these writhing goosebumps in my belly's lining and wanted to scream puke at him. I hate that that "sin"---of getting touchy because people are crazy about a band you appreciate way too much---has to come so naturally. Anyyyway, just commenting on comments. This song I actually gave to my first girlfriend [oops], except that it was the live acoustic version---or, the extra, enormously sad version. Despite that, it's this song's heartwrenching quality that I just can't keep from loving the hell out of it for. |

| Placebo – I Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song reminds me of evening bathtubs on a hillside parking lot, and coldsweats running off of all the people who actually want to take baths in them. Very, very dreamy---you just know what it all means. |

| CocoRosie – Tahiti Rain Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
hehehe. i've been listening to this song for months and i always thought "so dreamy" was actually "so drink me" it could be about a bunch of neat-looking 1700s boats coming in to Tahiti and one girl cannot imagine how beautiful that day became because of it. "infinity whispered to me a mumble so dreamy"---how else would you light up to a backward-and-forward surrealistic moment? yeah, i would definitely, definitely love that feeling. |

| CocoRosie – Tekno Love Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i wish they had the whole poem written up someplace 'cause i likes it more than the song---so i'll try deciphering. I fell in love with a bad, bad man Ever since I met him I been sad, sad, sad June faded into blooms of September's moon waned and grooved Your perfume haunted me long after I saw the swing of heaven's gate open in toward me Luxurious in your arms, your smile is the cool sun in the dark Misery rejoices when you're near and fever No sign of sickness keeps me burnin' down in my heart Winter melts, she shys away quite like the silence a dying star makes I'm a jail bird to your music, a criminal in your prayers I watch you in your sleep even when you're not there Picture this: your lips on my lips The mirror has to do for now 'cause you vanished like a cloud Rainbows wept colour all over the streets When you went away maybe one day we'll meet "Oh woman," you're callin' me I haven't slept a wink since 1916 I wasn't born then but sure feels time's been tickin' Shadows parade outside my door I wish we were dancin' across this old floor Car horns honkin' down that dirty street I wish you were yellin' tellin' to wash my feet Lipstick I'd wear for one million years Just to stop your eyes from fallin' them tears... |

| Snoop Dogg – Drop It Like It's Hot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't know why you so-called "much better than rap" rock lovers have to be bashing somebody as plain and undeserving as Snoop Dogg, just because some people actually appreciate him for some magical reason. Really, it doesn't make you any more better than them at all, just extremely boring and immature [and I listen to Bjork and The Velvet Underground, wow I guess I should go bash 50 Cent or somethin' like dat, durrrr]. Seriously, whatev. | |
| Placebo – Passive Aggressive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| it's passive agressive because it's like, "if you deny this, then it's your fault"--- it's all giving hope but it's about hurt. | |
| Belle & Sebastian – Sleep the Clock Around Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| if i listened to this song whilst going for a walk, i'd probably start crying... i dunno, it's just an overwhelmingly sad song for some reason. sad, not depressing--- it's so clear and realistic, what's not so heart-wrenching about that? | |
| Belle & Sebastian – It Could Have Been a Brilliant Career Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"her paintings are a sham / and they're goin for a grand / when the dealers come to view / do they ever see the real you?" that's one of the many thoughts in this song that beg people to not fall into conformist traps... or else you'd be close to your strokes. |
|
| Cannibal Corpse – I Cum Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| yeah seriously, what's wrong with raping and sodomizing? you've gotta admit that necros are adorable little guys. | |
| Placebo – Narcoleptic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"slip and stumble at my first offenses" as opposed to "crush and crumble under your defences" totally make it seem that he's the weaker one in the relationship. "you talk in paragraphs, i write my sentence"--- that line illustrates that he's the one with no important things to say and thus the weaker one; the one who's tired of the seriousness and wants to dream with her. then Bribri's voice rises as he sings, "you better keep it in check or you'll end up a wreck and you'll never wake up", which sounds like the stronger spouse telling the narcoleptic 'i told you so'. |
|
| Placebo – Plasticine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| of course, they didn't make this song because it's obvious that you should "be yourself" since that is such the favourite of cliches. we've been told over and over again to be ourselves, yet a whole amount of kids aren't following it... i don't blame them though--- if you think about it, it's extremely difficult trying not to rely on role models when you're still young enough to have your personality moulded by others every single minute anyway. | |
| Placebo – Holocaust (Alex Chilton cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, I listen to this song a lot because it feels so personal... It's like having anxiety attacks that become so constant and controlling, and so you just want to lose everything because everybody else seems to be losing you. "Your mother's dead / she said / don't be afraid" That line resembles those optimistic thoughts that you try to receive whilst in your state of crappiness, but the perishing of everything else just twists optimism into something really fake so that you can't get out of it... you're a wasted mass of waste, even if it was your fault, or everything else helped carry it further. |
|
| Placebo – Leni Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
yeah 'cause the melody doesn't sound like they're performing the scene--- it sounds more like he's walking away from the event and it's dragging on in his brain. almost as if he's recalling her, and after he's done talking the memories take over his whole being--- you can imagine that as the song gets harsher. christ, i don't know if that's sexy or what. |
|
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Sister Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| in the first stanza where it says "fingers that were supposed to be glorious and fine", i'm sure we can all relate to that since it's like jumping into some fancy advertisement but finding the experience "watery and slipping" instead---and if a nursery is like that, it's a big deal. | |
