Fall Out Boy – G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Lyrics 18 years ago
"itsfruitcakeweather, you are VERY rude.
I'm a teenager and I don't call people gay or w/e if I think they're stupid.
Maybe //some// teens should watch your language, but you should think aobut things a little more b/f you post them."

I was PRAISING the band for this. And you have to admit teenagers do say this. I do not find my post rude in the least; nowhere did I say ALL teenagers say these sorts of things.

The Hives – Tick Tick Boom Lyrics 18 years ago
The guitar sounds a lot like The Offspring's "Come Out and Play". Oddly enough, nobody's made a comment about this; it was the first thing I noticed about the song.

"Does anyone else think the orbital billboard in the video saying 'ice age is coming' could be a reference to Radiohead's Idioteque?"

What about "London Calling" by The Clash? That's what I thought when I saw the video.

Fall Out Boy – G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Lyrics 18 years ago
Well I must say, a song title with substance is a surprise from this band and it probably the only thing they have done musically that I support.

The title is all too true. People often use "gay" instead of "stupid" or "shitty" and it is wrong. I don't know when this entered the teenage venacular, but it needs to stop because teenagers say enough stupid things without that being one of them.
So, and I say this in all seriousness, bravo Fall Out Boy, for perhaps making some of your fans think about the language they use.

My Chemical Romance – House Of Wolves Lyrics 18 years ago
The beginning of this song really sounds like the beginning of "Supermodel Robots" by The Network, which is a New Wave band that has about 1000:1 odds that Green Day is involved.

This supports my idea that with this album My Chemical Romance was thinking about Green Day and their success with American Idiot, or at least Reprise Records was. I hardly think it's a coincidence that they used the same producer (Rob Cavallo), the same video director (Samuel Bayer)-with two videos that flow together mind you ("Holiday" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" vs. "Welcome to the Black Parade" and "Famous Last Words") and then procede to make a concept album, which The Black Parade being a concept album is arguable. Also, the beginning of "Mama" sounds very much like that of "Misery" by Green Day, although Cavallo did not produce that track.

Green Day – Life During War Time (Pinhead Gunpowder cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
I still don't think it's "shitty bands", it doesn't sound like that at all. It sounds like "stupid bands".
In any case, I'm not sure when this song was written, but I think it's possible that it's about the first Gulf War and their feelings surrounding it.

Green Day – Working Class Hero (John Lennon cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, since I'm the one who posted this, I might as well comment about it.
This has nothing to do with the meaning of the song, but it's about the performance of this song on American Idol. Watching it after the fact on YouTube, it looked as though they were rather uncomfortable and/or like they did not want to be there. I suspect the performance was done in order to create publicity of the Instant Karma album as it did not get that much attention from most radio stations, so why not take it to the highest rated TV show? I suppose it was done for the "greater good" of getting more people to be aware of the album and what issue it benefits. If this was the strategy, it was successful because the next day, "Working Class Hero" was in the iTunes top ten downloaded songs.

The White Stripes – You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told) Lyrics 18 years ago
I generally think The White Stripes are an overrated band-blasphemy I know-but I like this song depsite of that.
Also, sometimes these little ads on the sides of the page have something to do with the song, however here I do not think they do, as the ones I'm seeing right now have to do with animal cruelty or PETA.

Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics 19 years ago
"JT..He means illegal immigrates, and how they are taking over our country.... "

No, the lyrics is one word, alienation. As in feeling alienated from society or the government. It's not a jab at immigrants.

Also if you check out a band called The Network(you know, the new-wave band Green Day is not a part of) and their song "Transistors Gone Wild", a line is remarkably similar to one in this song.
"Television murder city dreaming of tomorrow" and "television dreams of tomorrow". Hmm, could that mean the same person was involved in writing both songs?

submissions
The Network – Transistors Gone Wild Lyrics 19 years ago
Has anybody else noticed there's a line in this song that's pretty much the same as one in "American Idiot"?
"television, murder city
dreaming of tomorrow"
and "television dreams of tomorrow"
Oh yea, and yesterday I checked out The Network's website and it says "cumming soon", so perhaps there could be another album soon.

My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics 19 years ago
"It's not coincidence that Green Day and MCR did a similar concept album (not similar concept, but similar that their last albums were concepts). Their both on Reprise."

Do not compare American Idiot to this bullshit. American Idiot had a coherent story and cleary had characters. This, on the other hand, does not have either. I have listened to this album and looked at the lyrics, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how the hell the songs relate to each other.

There is no mention of characters, except "he" or "she", how you all magically know what's going on, I do not know. Infact, I believe if this was not talked about as being a concept album, no one would have thought it was.

Parker Lewis, I do not like this band either, but saying how gay they are is not productive and only makes you look stupid. It's unfortunate that saying gay instead of stupid has become an accepted part of teenager vernacular.

Pretorben, people can comment on songs that they do not like. People are entitled to their own perspective on things, and as long as they don't spam bands' pages, it shouldn't bother you.

I do not like this band nor this song. I saw them perform this song on the American Music Awards(no idea why, I turned it on, it was them, and I thought this will be interesting), and I could not understand a word he was singing. Then I found the actual audio on AOL.

No idea what the hell this song is supposed to mean.

"Listen to the intro.
Does this not sound like Holiday by Green Day?"

No. It just sounds like it could be a Green Day bassline. You want a song that DOES sound like Green Day. Listen to "Welcome to Paradise"(the beginning, especially the bass), and then listen to "Festival Song" by Good Charlotte. Good Charlotte just plays it slower.

My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics 19 years ago
I had a feeling this would happen. I knew My Chemical Romance would make a "concept album"; I don't know why, but I was right. But what I didn't think would happen is they would have Rob Cavallo produce it and have Samuel Bayer direct it. That took balls, it also took balls to call it a "goth opera" in Rolling Stone. Or the record company told them to do that, one of the two.

Anyway, this song seems to be either My Chemical Romance's attempt at "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Jesus of Suburbia". I'm thinking more Queen in the sound of the song and more Billie Joe Armstrong in how Gerard Way is singing. Although Gerard Way has got some Freddie Mercury moves going on in the video.

The odd thing is, I don't absolutely hate this song. It's actually kind of catchy, but EXTREMELY over-produced in some parts. Also, my first impression of "The Patient" character is that he's gay because he likes parades. I have no problem with gay people but I think of gay pride parades.

The video perplexes me. For one thing, the little outfits they have on(except theirs are black, of course, the float and the people behind them remind of the album cover for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club"(I serious, go find a picture). Another thing, it just doesn't seem complete. But I guess it could be concluded in their next video, which Samuel Bayer will also direct. The people look like they're wearing either Indian war paint or Aborigine makeup. The background of the video looks like Mordor, so when he's walking towards the mountain looking thing, it reminds me of Frodo going to destroy the Ring.

Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics 19 years ago
"what a lovely caricature of intimacy.

the best line ever.
how does someone even create something like that?
SO MUCH TALENT is wrapped up in Panic"

If only they would learn how to pronounce "caricature".
"how does someone even create something like that?"

I have a feeling I could write songs that are better than theirs'; mine would make sense. As far as HOW someone creates something like that, it's called writing down whatever the hell pops into your head, regardless of whether it makes sense or even sounds reasonable.
Also, they are not talented. Did you see their preformance at the VMAs. I saw about 20 seconds of it and realized it was not one of MTV's lame attempts to be funny. Then I started laughing, and couldn't watch anymore of it. The dude can't sing(although he's not AS bad as the guy from Fall Out Boy, but it's close), and then he has on this stupid outfit that makes him look like a reject from a magic show on the Strip(before someone can retort, I know they're from Las Vegas).
They take themselves too seriously. And look what happened in Britain(not that I'm supporting throwing things at bands, because that's a lame thing to do), but I think getting a taste that not everyone likes them was good for them.

Wow, you guys really seem to have a lot of pent up anger about something. I don't know what, but this argument is entertaining. I also like the girl's comment about why she shops at Hot Topic...maybe if you didn't buy so many band t-shirts you would have more money so you could save to buy tickets to concerts that you really want to go to. Anyway, I am proud to say that I have never set foot in a Hot Topic store.

Now to the song...I really enjoy this cover, perhaps even more than The Clash's, just because I think there is more energy behind it.

Gretchen Wilson – Politically Uncorrect Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is stupid. I get mixed messages from it because in the beginning of the video, there's this clip of Georgie Boy talking and then a newscaster saying "another deadly day in Iraq". But then she goes on in the song to say that "I'm for the flag",m which by most people's standards means that you are for whatever Georgie Boy is doing. It also pisses me off when she says "I'm for the soldiers who fight for this land". People who are rednecks assume that liberals are against the troops, because you can support the troops and still be against the war. I mean does being against the war mean that you want the troops to die? All around this song is a dumb fuck hick anthem.

I do think this song is about Hitler and I don't know what their problem is, why would the singer charaterize himself as Hitler. What does that prove? That he wants to have complete power over everyone? Anyway, this song got stuck in my head for two days and now I'm pissed about it.

Weezer – Worry Rock Lyrics 19 years ago
Does Weezer never swear or something? Anyway, this song comes off an abosultely awful album, and is probably the best one on there(not very much of an accomplishment, but that's ok). They should have left "fucked" in there because that makes more sense that saying "hugged". People can hug each other and not kiss and there be nothing wrong with that, but "fucked without a kiss" implies that passion is gone.
