Lori Mckenna is amazing. The emotions in this song are unbelievable. Building on what you said, annoyance, I think this song is about a woman who fell in love too fast and now her husband doesn't pay her any attention, etc (ie she has to "beg affection" from him). He barely notices her anymore and, even though she regrets being with him, she is too scared to do anything else than be with him (I'm sort of guessing on that but its what makes sense to me) and she is sort of hoping that one day he'll give her the love she always wanted.

Oh my god- this song is fucking amazing. I can think of no reasons whatsoever that Lori isnt huge. There lyrics are so powerful; in my opinion the song is about someone who commited suicide which is extremely personal to me so this song means a whole hell of a lot |

I think that maybe this song is about a woman who loved someone so much (they were still in a relationship) but she knew in her heart that he wasn't all there- he was probably cheating. She goes into his house and goes through his things, sort of subconsiencly trying to find evidence to what she fears the most. When she does find it, it comes as a horrible shock to her but its even sadder because in her heart she already knew the answer.
Regardless of what this song is about its just so beautiful. |

I personally feel like this song can't even really be defined. It just sort of fits my life in every way possible- it's such a beautiful song, I don't understand why it got so much less recognition than "Torn". Don't get me wrong, I like "Torn" as much as the next person but this song is so much more raw and personal (not to sound like a Lindsay Lohan album ripoff or anything...) and I think that the music in general is just better. I can't even really begin to describe how much I love this song. |

This song definatly takes some getting used to, simply because it's so different from Evanescence's usual song. Its still a good song but fans of the band might not like it at first. Its a little more repetative with a more catchy beat. BTW, I thought it was "you can't *blame the victim this time- though I could be wrong, this is the only hard copy of the lyrics I've seen.
Anyway, great song, and I'm looking foward to the rest of the album (October 3rd!!) |

I always thought this song was about a relationship that was a little bit taboo, and/or one a lot of people didn't aprove of. To me, it seemed like the song was directed at God, saying he would swap places with Kate and her partner. When she's saying "it doesn't hurt me..." its directed at the people who are condemning the relationship. She is basically saying "its not as bad as you think". The second verse, I thought, was directed to the people condemning as well. To me it seemed like she was saying "I know you're not trying to hurt me personally when you insult our relationship but it is anyway". The third verse is directed at her partner- shes basically saying "even though the ones we love condemn us, us, our relationship still matters and we should be happy for us even if they can't be".
I thought the female orgasm interpretation made some sense for the most part, but why would Placebo, an all male band, cover it? |

To me this is about a person who killed someone and he is feeling extreme guilt about it. Originally I thought he did it for a cult or a gang or a religion or somehting but now I think he may have done it for himself. I think she knew something about him that she shouldn't have so he killed her. When I first heard this song, I thought imeediatly of a girl I knew through school who was killed by a gang because she witnessed them commiting some sort of crime. Just a thought. |

When I first heard this song it struck me as being about a relationship where, because of the relationship ("i'd give my heart...its my fault") one person is in some sort of trouble or hurt somehow. It could be about a breakup where one person really hurt someone else and is now realizing they still love them...I feel like I'm totally off base with this though- anyone else have any thoughts?
One more thing- who do you guys think Jillian is? (I mean, is this song autobiographical or does Jillian represent someone else?) |

the song is about her relationship with an older man and the verses are him talking to her and the chorus is her talking to him.
i dont think that its the same guy as in "you oughta know" because in this song, she doesnt sound mad at him whereas in "you oughta know" its kind of a different story |

musicinmysoul, you really should watch what you say. i dont know if you were intending anyone to take your comment about lesbian relationships personally, but my foster mom is a lesbian and she and her girlfriend have been nicer to me than anyone ever has and i know they really love each other which is so comforting because my real parents didnt (i wont go into detail but it didnt end well). i think that with divorce rates so high, if two people love each other, they should be together |

i dont know what happend to my last comment...i had something pretty long...thats weird (i know buying this cheep computer would come back and bite me in the ass).
anyways, what i was going to say before technology abandoned me (awful, i know, but i couldnt resist) was i think this song is (obviously) about abandonment. i think she was abandoned by someone she loved and trusted above all else and when they left her she is left with this emptiness and and she feels so lost and so alone and all she can do is blame them and wonder where they were when she needed them so much. this is just my opinion...anyone else have a take on it? i cant be the only person who loves this song! |
