It's about forgetting the things that make you love life. Rushing through everything and becoming disoriented and forgetting your purpose. Not being able to sleep, because your heart says one thing and your head says the other. Falling apart, getting nowhere, and life slipping away faster and faster without notice. All you want is to know who is supposed to calm you. You want someone to slow you down so you aren't numb to the world anymore. Just my opinion. |

| I've known of this song since I was 15 but I decided to wait until turning seventeen to finally listen to it. So I finally did, the day after my 17th birthday (this new years day.) And I'm glad I waited, because of the events with a boy that took place on my birthday I understand this song so much more than I would have. when i first heard this song the first thing that came to mind was the suburbs of nashville, tennessee. the area fits the "jesusland" described in this song to a T. and it makes a lot of sense after learning that folds lives on the outskirts of nashville. having lived in the area for several years i can relate- the way christianity is so commercialized down there is more than slightly hypocritical when you look around at the materialistic wealthy folks...living in their "McMansions on the hill". How everyone is so obsessed with wealth and social status that they forget the religious values they claim they posess. |

this is my favorite song off the new album, hands down. i don't really see it as about anything specific, just that things can be shitty but everything is inherently good. i like that, you can apply it to whatever situation you wish. so beautiful |
