| the image i get from this is relating a lost love to losing a life-long pet; he doesn't understand what's happened, but he's lost a friend for life, and doesn't know how to react. maybe not the literal meaning, but certainly what i got from it. needless to say, anyone who can listen to this song without getting emotional must be tough. one of the first time i've heard harsh swearing in such an emotive, respectful way too. absolutely amazing. | |

Another album, another bunch of songs about Kris' ex-wife... This ones basically just about how he fell in love with her, and after divorcing, he started to realise he just doesn't have it in him to fall in love again. Saw them live in May and they played this, went down a storm. The new album isn't as universally great as their others, especially So Long, Astoria, but it's still a good album. Kris is amazing, you really get a feel that he's been through it and one day you will from his lyrics. It's almost like a bible for love or something :) |

| It's easy. It's about him loving a girl who's already got a boyfriend. There's obviously been a kiss between them, friendly or not, and they left it at that, but he fell in love with her. "And it's all in my head, but she's touching his chest now, he takes off her dress now, let me go" is about that they've gone upstairs and he's still downstairs whilst he's waiting for a cab she called for him, but it's tearing him up knowing that they're probably doing something dirrttty up there. "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea." The line "but it's just the price I pay" means he knows she loves her boyfriend and not him, but there's nothing he can do about it and it hurts. Finally, the line "Open up my eager eyes, cause i'm Mr. Brightside" means he thinks there's always hope, and that he always looks on the bright side - weather he wants to or not. | |

Pretty sure this one's just about the troubles the band have faced throughout their career, both musical and otherwise... the "I may not be pure, but i'm not all that toxic" line sounds like it means their music has to be recorded in an expensive studio and engineered, but in the end it's still their music. Not sure exactely. The whole album kind of sounds like they're hating what they're doing. |
