Thank you, Tbaby, for injecting some obviousness into the conversation. This song is about how we're expected to have our mind set on a career, dedicate ourselves to that career, and always be loyal. That's how it was back in our parents' time when they would spend 10 hours a day working at a factory for 30 years. Likewise, the megacapitalist businesses want that same loyalty, but it's at a higher cost now. Women must also work to make means meet. Kids are thrown into a defunct educational system. All for the benefit of whom? It certainly isn't my wallet. I know that's for damn sure. Extremely underrated song that I wish got more (or any at all) playing time. |
