| The Magnetic Fields – Xylophone Track Lyrics

The lyrics are missing a few lines. After "Bang your xylophone track," he sings "Keen, stupid choo-choo, clang your xylophone track."
It's amazing to hear Stephen Merritt push his already deep voice even deeper... I love the melancholy sound and the impact of the last line. I think the meaning is quite clear: he has lost someone. |

I heard someone say it was about a rapist? I don't think so--I think it mentions women so much because the guy is so bad ass he just gets all the girls. It's not because he's raping them. |

The music is VERY similar to "Strange Brew" but the lyrics are totally different.
This is just a really chill song about how his girl worries he'll leave her, but he's telling her not to worry about it. |

It's a love song, naturally. They're both very uncertain about it--he has doubts, and she had to "make" herself love him.
The main question is, is their love real? |

| Neil Young – Long May You Run Lyrics

I love this song; clearly it's about his car, but I always felt that the sentiment, "long may you run," could apply to anything. Kind of a "good luck," it's just something to say to someone to let them know you hope they have a long and happy life.
Also reminds me of the book Watership Down. When a rabbit died, they said he had "stopped running," so to run long is to have a long life. It doesn't need to apply just to his car. :) |

Awesome song. Les Savy Fav write really excellent lyrics to go with their great guitars and shouting, and that makes them a rare find. Songs that rock, and actually mean something! |

I always thought of the line after "I'd hoped the salt below" was "would divorce what was wed above." That makes more sense, I think. It's possible of course that I am wrong.
Great song regardless; I love the ending especially. |

Yeah, this is just about doing anything for money. Shows, plugging sponsers on stage, sexual favors... Give 'em money, and they're yours. An interesting subject, one that's rarely breached... More common to hear is, "I'll live in the gutter if I can keep making art!" I think they're joking, but it's still a fresh perspective.
The line about "vice principles" is particularily clever. The music in this song, too, as unpolished as it is, is great. I love it when someone sneezes and someone else says, "bless you," and the song keeps going. |

This is one of my most favorite songs ever. It's just about finding someone you can connect with. All these girls he meets that are pretty and cool and nice, but he just can't find the girl who he'll have a spark for. |

| The Unicorns – Child Star Lyrics

I love how this song is so melancholy in the beginning. It seems both the child star and the fan resent each other deeply... and that just descends into a rather childish "Yes you are," "Are not," "Are too," exchange. It's great fun, or at least becomes it. |
