Of course this song is about love! It starts out with aloneness and seperation, then the person finds someone like them...someone they love. This song has been me and my fiance's song for a while now : ) |

Hate to steer this off topic of the lyrics...but Blue, you're completely right...The only way for the demons to get to you...if you believe...is for you to let them in...well I guess I can tie this in, it seems after Mr. Self Destruct, the character agrees to let "Mr. Self Destruct" in, who eventually opens the door for it's own "sub-personalities" (as I take it). If you notice, in Ruiner, it seems there are at least 3 seperate things arguing throughout..."Mr. Self Destruct", some guardian angel type character, and the main character himself.
Off topic into another song...but the super distorted parts in Ruiner seem to be the "good" voice trying to get through. While "Mr. Self Destruct" tries to convince the character that the distortion is the real evil. In the end, if you follow it the way I do, the character yells back, expressing what he thinks he should believe...
"and what you gave to me, my perfect ring of scars, now I can see, what you really are...>through the end of the song...oh well I probably should have put this in Ruiner... |

I'm pretty sure most of you are looking at the song...and not the album...by its self the song is an attack on religion...but as far as the song goes storyline-wise, it is the voice inside the main character's head leading him astray...It's trying to convince him that his religion is a lie (and judging by the rest of the album it's successful), and to open him up so that the voice can take control. |
