Nirvana – Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam Lyrics 19 years ago
Do you celebrate Halloween, Pixies-Exist? Do you believe in ghosts? Well, here's a fucking BRILLIANT thought: People can celebrate things, free from personal conviction. Holidays aren't confined to race or religion or age. Also, did you know that your beloved Jesus was actually born in the spring/summer? Yeah, it's true; look it up if you don't believe me. Here I am, a miserable Atheist trying to teach you something...psh, what am I thinking? For future reference, here's something for you, and all Christians to work on: Don't enter every conversation/debate/social scene/whatever with the believe that you're 100% correct and that everyone must believe what you believe. I don't go around tearing apart religious views, but a great fucking deal of Christians run around letting those who don't believe what they believe how selfish they are for rejecting God; how foolish, how sinful, how lost. Did you know religion is subjective? For me to believe what you tell me, I actually have to give a fuck. There's your new mission, get people to give a fuck before you feed them whatever you want them to hear. And also, send me a message or something on here if you want to discuss this, because it would be best to leave this message board open to discussion on the song at hand. Now, on to said song:

Basically, I just believe that this song is written from the perspective of not feeling worthy of something or just feeling guilty. You can replace "Jesus" with anything or anyone, and it just reads: This [whatever you put in there] is too good for me, and I'm not good enough to even be around it; I'm so ashamed. I then get the impression that the guilt this person feels turns into anger, like "Why can't I be good enough? Why the hell not?" So then they hate what they love because they can't be near it. That's just my take on it.

A Perfect Circle – Weak And Powerless Lyrics 19 years ago
solitary siren: could this be the siren of greek mythology calling him to return to something-drugs.

Maynard is easily intelligent enough to write something like that, and I believe that the usual use of the word "siren" is beneath him.
Also, this song is obviously about heroin; it addresses it directly.

The fact that you have cliche, pseudo-angst will be quite obvious to every person that reads your comment on the subject of religion. Religion is quite a useful institution, and while some may not agree with it, if equality is to be attained, that must be done in all areas in which humans are concerned.
Oh, and before you label me as a religious zealot, martinixkissesxX, I am an atheist.

The ending lines in this song are beautiful. They're the final light of a sunset that has a beauty never to be repeated.
