| Soilwork – Sadistic Lullabye Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| To me it's about satan, and how he brings sinners into the eternal sleep. Mothers sing a lullaby to get their kids to feel safe and sleep, so, usuaing that example, satan sings a sadistic lullaby to hint at what is in for the sinner when he finally crosses over. | |
| Into Eternity – Selling God Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It's about selling a religion that never asked for it to be sold. In my understanding the bible preaches acceptance of individuals and their beleifs, even if you beleive it's the wrong path. Even after the christian saviours came and told us we were doing it all worng etc etc. We still have not got it right, and by selling a god that does not want to be baught, we prove this fact. | |

Hmm, seems your all hitting the same target, but no one's hit it in the middle yet, I doubt I will, but I'll try and make my opinion heard. Alright, verse by verse >:) "I'm diggin' my way to something better" (i wont put the enitre one as you know what i mean) This is quite obvious, it symbolizes that ther "main character" let's call him, is trying to get to something better, eitehr by going through all the dirt hes got, or the digging could symbolize a tough road. "Sowing the seeds I take for granted" While our hero (main character) tries to dig their way to a better tomorrow, they start doing the small things that they think won't harm them on their path to that bettwer tomorrow, but in the next couple lines, you'll see. "This thorn in my side is from the tree I've planted" ok, so, while digging a hole towards a better life, our hero planted a seed that he did not think was a threat, now hes being poked in the side with a thorn from the tree that grew from the seed he took for granted. This is straight forward lets use James as an example. He would start on the road to recovery, and might take a sip of wine here, then a glass there, soon it begins to fester and hes back to where he started. Chorus ok, it's long and i wont quote it in one chunk. The first line "Caught under wheels roll" shows that our hero is stuck in a constant revolution, one point hes clean, the next back to where he began. It's painful (being under a wheel tends to be) and its going to kill our hero one day. "I take the leash, I'm bleeding me" leash symbolizes control, which means he knows what hes doing to himself, and he knows he can stop it, but what's holind him back? "Can't Stop to save my soul" plain as day, thats addiction. It's the feeling of being unable to live without or stop without something bad happening, even if it would save your life (note the contradiction). "I can't take it" can mean two things, main one to me is, our hero knows he cannot go on like this, OR it means if he takes the afore mentioned leash, he will lead himself just deeper into the pits hes trying to dig out of. "I am the beast that feeds the feast" beast, roast beast, food, obvious here. Our hero knows hes the one to blame for his destructive personality, etc. "I am the blood i am release" again, obvious. Hes the only one who can truly save himself, and using the cutting reference (in which James does NOT do) I used to be a cutter, and when I did, it was a release, so using this situation, it means you cut yourself, or you release, and then you start bleeding, if our hero is the blood he has released, then he can win no matter what way, he releases, he losses himself, he does not release, it all builds up until he losses anyway. "Come make me pure, bleed me a cure" he wants someone to give everything they have to save him, because he knows he cannot do it on his own. A lot of words and punctuation but if you've gotten through it i hope it helps to finding your OWN meaning and what the song means to YOU, because in the end, that is all that counts really. P.S. At 5:35 in this song, the build up that starts is amazing, at 5:56, when he repeats "Oh I can't take it" three times, is breathtaking when you play it live with a good crowd and band backing you up. My band did this song live a couple weeks ago and the emotion coming from my band as I sang and played guitar with all my lungs and fingers could take, was pure musical bliss for me. |

| As I Lay Dying – 94 Hours Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Alright, not the fan of posting things that are not relevent to the meaning of a son, but I must say, go listen to some Kataklysm for some REAL kick ass double bass, about an hour or so of listening to Kataklym's heart stopping bass lines (album serenity in fire would be best) you will find these double kicks to be rather unimpressive. | |
