| Modest Mouse changes some of their song lyrics as they go along and since the Baron version is newer you are probably right Relapser. | |
| Modest Mouse – Lives Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"My mom’s God is a woman and my mom she is a witch" On the Stars are Projectors there is a line "God is a woman and the woman is An animal, that animal's man and that's you" and the god being a woman part is a reference to that. As far as his mom being a witch, this could refrencing her being in cults when he was growing up. |

| Modest Mouse – What People Are Made Of Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"On the first page of the book of blue it read If you read this page, than that'll be your death" The way i like to interpet this is that the book of blue is symbolic of truth and to read from this book it will kill you so basically the truth is unknowable. And humans "ain't made of nothin’ but water and shit" could be this truth, cause it's basically saying that our lives are meaningless and to actually believe this is pretty much a death sentence as there is no point in doing anything anymore i.e. eating/breathing. then agian, it is all bullshit anyways. |

| Modest Mouse – Tiny Cities Made of Ashes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song might have Cather in the Rye refrences. "Does anybody know a way that a body could get away" uses similar wording to a poem refrenced thoughout the novel "if a body meet a body, coming through the rye," The book has a theme to the song of trying to get away. "Our hearts pump dust and our hairs all grey" Could be a refrence to holden's grey hairs. "I'm wearin’ myself a t-shirt that says "The world is my ashtray"" and general cynicism thoughout the soung might reflect the cynicism in Holden. Also I think it's possible that "Gonna hit you on the face gonna punch you in your glasses. Oh no!" refers to Holden talking about how he wouldn't want to punch someone in the face, and would rather throw them out a window or something like that. "So we're drinkin’ drinkin’ drinkin’ drinkin’ coca-coca-cola" Could refrence the scene when Holden tries to buy beer but the bartender realized he's under 21. I don't recall if he orders a coke instead though, but he might have. Although I'm really going out on a limb here to say this stuff. |

| The Constantines – Insectivora Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think some of the lyrics are wrong "One word to operation chaos" sound a lot more like "One word, the operator's in chaos" And insectivora are small mammels that eat insects such as moles and hedgehogs, so 'descendent' you are way off about what the song means. |

| Modest Mouse – Never Ending Math Equation Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"The universe works on a math equation that never even ever really ends in the end Infinity spirals out creation" this is actually one of the best lyrics I've ever heard. Consider this: If a tree falls with no one around to hear it, does it make a sound? Well if you think it does a similar question can be stated: Does x^2+y^2+z^2=t (a sphere that expands over time) exist if noone thinks about it? And the answer to that would also have to be yes. Now going off that what if I were to create an equation that models everything in the universe. With a practically infinite possible equations most using concepts humans haven't even discovered this would mean that existance can be explained by that nothing actually exists and it's all just a mathematical idea. Furthermore this idea can be expanded to create every possible universe. If it is all just an idea then every idea exists. |

| Modest Mouse – Doin' the Cockroach Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I'm pretty sure at least some of these lyrics are wrong. Doin' the cockroach refers to the state that the human race lives in or at least people in firstworld countries who watch too much tv and eat too much juckfood. this part "One year Twenty years Forty years Fifty years Down the road in your life You'll look in the mirror And say, "My parents are still alive." i think has a bad line 'Down the road in you life' sounds like 'everybody's gonna die' to me. and the 'my parent's are still alive' line refers to either people not being around long enough for their parents to die or that their parents got to live a full life and left the world in a shitty state. also the line "This one's a cash fiend" sounds more like "This one's a cash theif" and also makes more sence that way since the next line is "taking your money" and the line "Rutting through garbage" is probably actually "Rotten through garbage" cause he's talking about junkfood. |
