| Imogen Heap – Goodnight and Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |

The song is pretty straight forward to me: For whatever reason, the speaker hasn’t pursued a more intimate relationship with this person, though she obviously wants to. There could be a ton of reasons why she won’t take things to the next level, the song doesn’t really explain this. “Skipping beats, blushing cheeks I am struggling Daydreaming, bed scenes in the corner cafe And then I’m left in bits recovering tectonic tremblings You get me every time” This is about how every time she meets the guy she blushes and gets embarrassed and is left shaking afterwards. “Why d'ya have to be so cute? It's impossible to ignore you Must you make me laugh so much It's bad enough we get along so well Say goodnight and go” This is about how she can’t get the guy out of her mind, and she is constantly reminded how perfect they would be together. “Follow you home, you've got your headphones on and you're dancing Got lucky, beautiful shot you taking everything off watch the curtains wide open Then you fall in the same routine flicking through the TV relaxed and reclining And you think you’re alone...” Defiantly getting a stalker feeling from this verse, but I can understand it perfectly; the line between obsessed infatuation and deranged stalking is thin. She follows him home and watches him get undressed and gets a beautiful “shot” of it, this may be referring to taking a picture, or maybe it’s just a good view. She must have followed him home multiple times if she knows his routine. It really creeps me out (in a cool way tho) when she says “And you think you’re alone...” *shivers* “One of these days, you'll miss your train and come stay with me We'll have drinks and talk about things, any excuse to stay awake with you You'll sleep here, I'll sleep there, but then the heating may be down again at my convenience we'd be good, we'd be great together.” Again, this verse is quite straight forward. It does make me wonder though if she might try to keep him behind late in order to make him miss the train, that’s just my speculation though. She suggests that she might turn the heating off and say it’s broken just to foster a more intimate sleeping arrangement. “Say goodnight and go, why's it always always goodnight and go Darling not again Goodnight and go” I get the feeling here that every time they part he just says goodbye and then leaves, and she longs for him to say or do something more than just say goodbye, i.e. a goodbye kiss, or an invitation to stay a while longer. I say ‘he’ and ‘she’ but the song really doesn’t hint at the genders of the two people. |

| Marilyn Manson – President Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |

The lyric is actually “give the pills time to work”, I checked the lyrics that come with the CD. Its pills not bills, another drug reference. Also, George W. Bush became president around the time this album was released, so I doubt it refers to him specifically. |

| Marilyn Manson – Vodevil Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| What does vodevil mean? Is it just a weird way of spelling vaudeville? What does vaudeville have to do with this song? Is it just randomly put in here because it’s similar to burlesque, a theme Manson seems to be fascinated by? | |
| Marilyn Manson – Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Doppelganger can be literally translated as “double goer”. I interpret “throw your shapes” to mean that the doppelgangers should loose the “shape” of the person they have imitated. It is interesting to note that a doppelganger that is not actively imitating someone and has reverted to its “true form” is generally considered to have a very neutral form, no distinctive features, and no sexual organs, indistinguishable from the next doppelganger. Perhaps what Manson is trying to say is that people should stop trying to be someone they are not, they should stop imitating those they admire and instead find a personality of their own. |
