I can barely listen to this song without crying. The first time I ever heard it was the night my first love sang me to sleep... I remember for weeks after he sang for me, I was obsessed with finding a way to get this song. I finally found a used copy of the CD in the music store down the street from where I live. Anyways... This song is just beautiful. A lot of it is how I feel about my girlfriend right now, like how I'm constantly counting the days until she visits again, and the feelings of being lost and helpless when she leaves. Even the parts where he's saying how he can't tell her something, because she won't feel the same seems like us when we fight... I know that she won't agree with me, and so I'm reluctant to say something, in case I hurt her or she hurts me with her response. Also: To me, the line that goes "and I will stay here in these dead plains and try to make a seed grow and I would pray for rain, if I thought that that would help" means that he's trying to get over her and love another, but he just can't. No matter what it means, this song really is beautiful... |
