| Silverchair – Pop Song For Us Rejects Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Pretty basic lyrics, but they hit me pretty hard when I was younger. Great tune, though. | |

Commercialism isn't real. It's a term thrown around by snobs that think, because they listened to something first (or claimed to have) they are 'true' fans. Anyway, [/endrant] This song grew on me. I didn't love it right away, but it did make me want to listen to it more than once. A lot more than once, and every time I heard it I liked it just that little bit more. I'll say this for the Chair boys, they can really write music. I've always loved Daniel's lyrics, they're very interesting. He may not be the greatest song writer of all time, but his lyrics always seem personal and relatable at the same time (a rare talent). But as I said, as far as music goes, they're growing more talented by the album. I'm a huge Silverchair fan. Frogstomp was the album that got me into grunge music. Freakshow I listened to many times in my teenage angst, and the same goes for Neon Ballroom. Diorama was the stand out album for the Chair, and the year it came out was a break through year for me. I grew up with this music and I have to say, I'm truly impressed by what I've heard of Young Modern so far. Not being afraid to do something different, something that you're passionate about, should be praised. Oh, and I think the lyrics, while they probably have a deeper meaning for Daniel Johns, is mainly about moving on, as someone else said earlier. Fantastic song. |

| Quit ripping on artists you wankers. And show some respect for the dead, symbolX, even if you don't like him or his music. | |

| Its on Triple J all the time. I don't like it all that much, really. | |
| The Darkness – Is It Just Me? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| What Emmy said. It was also good to hear a modern song with a guitar solo. This song fucking rules. | |
| The Darkness – Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song made me love The Darkness. They rule. Nuff said. | |

What is a proper fan? If they think its cool to listen to the music and be seen in that group, then obviously they like the music. Key word: LIKE. And if they like the music, they are indeed a fan. They might be annoying to you (and me, I admit), but get off the high horse, Outgunned, a fan is a fan weather you like it or not. |

I agree with pretty much everything Avatar-rock said. Except: 'I think some of the people commmenting here dont deserve the privaledge of living. saying one of the two versions, NIN of JC, is crap is just plain disrespectful.' See, the problem is, people might not like a song, however good you think it is. Me personally, I like both versions, I just perfer the Cash version. But if someone comes along and says 'I hate the NIN version' guess what? Thats fine. In fact, I encourage it. Same goes for if you dislike the Cash version. If you don't like it, say it. Don't pretend to so you can look cool in front of the people here, the majority of people here are complete sheep. Its when you start attacking the actual people in a band that is taking it to far, eg: "Trent/Johnny is gay." Saying you don't like the music of a band, the voice of a singer or Hell, even the look of someone is fine. Just don't attack people because you don't like them. Maybe its just me, but I don't think saying "I hate a song" is disrespectful. In fact, if you're behing honest and unbias (or as unbias as a person can be), I think you're actually showing respect. So boy and girls, the moral of the story is; Don't be a Wannabe, stand and be proud of the music you like, even ifs its mindless Pop music. Its your taste. Oh, and don't do drugs. |

The first time I heard Hurt (Cash version) I was in media class (back in highschool, obviously) and a friend brought it in taped off Rage. Its such a sad song, and the image of this old man singing it really got to me. Yes, at the time I had no idea who Johnny Cash was. I was an Australian teen into Silverchair and Placebo, not really into country music. But that song stayed with me, I found myself singing it while walking down the street and as soon as I realized what I was singing I forgot the words. (Remember; I'd only heard this song once.) I was never able to download the song because 1. my computer was stuffed, and 2. I didn't know the same of the song, only that it was by an old guy named Johnny Cash. Finally, after getting my computer up and running again, I used iTunes to find the song (because you can play a bit of the song before you download it). It took a little while, but I brought it. Since then I've began listening to some Cash music, but I wouldn't call myself a harecore fan. For the record, Walk The Line only just came out here in Aus, so I was into Cash before the movie was released here, despite the fact that I didn't know who he was. As for NIN, I've been a softcore fan for a while. A few of my friends are really into them and I love a few songs, but again, I wouldn't call myself hardcore. So, in my post, when I said that I liked the Cash version more than the NIN one, I meant just that. I have admiration for Johnny Cash. Not because of Walk The Line but because I stumbled accross some of his songs and I like them, and he's a good song writer. If that bothers anyone, my advice is: Get Fucked. You don't have to have been a fan of someone since their debut to be a fan. If you like the music, thats what matters. Note: ButNeverOutgunned said: 'You only appreciate JC cos hes dead, Did you buy his records when he was alive???' What a stupid thing to say. I sure as Hell hope people will be buying Silverchair music after Daniel Johns is dead. Again, you can be a fan of someone even if they have passed away. Its called honoring their memory. Or somethin'. |

| Youth Group – Forever Young Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Yeah it can depress or uplift me. Depends on my state of mind. | |
| Nirvana – You Know You're Right Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Nirvana are one of those bands that almost anyone can relate to. It could be about death, it could be about his kid... but for me, its about my own life, and how I feel. Personally I don't have a wife that was a crazy phyco bitch, nor do I have a child, but I do relate to this song. Its the music moreso than the lyrics that speak volumes when it comes to Nirvana. | |
| Slipknot – Before I Forget Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Phate, you are the man. Can't stand people who think they know more than anyone else because they are 'true' or 'hardcore' fans. I like this song, by the way. | |
| Deep Purple – Child In Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |

You probably are, but I don't know, bizter. All I know is that this song, live, is one of the best songs I have ever heard. On the album I don't really like it that much. |

| KISS – Goin' Blind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Love this song live when I hear it in Melbourne at the Symphony tour. This song is awesome. | |
| KISS – Beth Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Hearing this live with the Melbourne Symphony was one of the best things I have ever heard. | |
| Ugly Kid Joe – Cat's in the Cradle Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Vampy made a clear point. I just love the song, its so bittersweet, so typical of father/son relationships. One of the best songs I have ever heard. | |
| Utada Hikaru – First Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I love the piano version without the vocal. | |
| Metallica – Hero of the Day Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The S&M version of this song is one of my favorite songs. As for the meaning, I suppose I'd have to agree with King Nothing, though I like to have my own meanings for songs. | |
| Metallica – Whiskey in the Jar (Thin Lizzy cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Great cover. One of the few covers that better the original. | |
| The Black Mages – Otherworld Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Yeah, this song is pretty obvious. Still, it rocks something chronic. | |
| Savage Garden – Carry On Dancing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Sadly, both Darren and Anne Rice lost their edge. Love this song, though. | |
| Coldplay – Talk Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I'm with ellie, I didn't like Coldplay much before this song, but I loved the lyrics at the start. Oh brother I can’t, I can’t get through I’ve been trying hard to meet you ‘cause I don’t know what to do Oh brother I can’t believe it’s true I’m so scared about the future and I wanna talk to you Oh I wanna talk to you This reminded me of a relationship I have with an American boy who I think of as my little brother. Other than that, I just love the flow of the song, and honestly I havn't really thought of the meaning of it, I like to make my own meanings sometimes. |

(Sorry for the double post) Jenalyn, your post was great. Smartest post in this thread. 'Nuff said. |

| Youth Group – Forever Young Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Sorry for your loss, rechmac. For me, this song is about, obviously, youth. Having just turned twenty, I really appericate this song and its meaning (I'm well aware that the original version was about necular war) because I'm no longer a teenager but I'm still young. This song stirs up something inside me, its one of the only songs recently that has really captured my feelings, and the feelings of the generation. I've only heard three Youth Group songs (more than most people, thanks to Triple J) and this one of my favorite. |

| Silverchair – Blind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Silverchair swear quite a bit, just never in songs released on an album. Gotta respect that. | |
| Silverchair – After All These Years Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Its all about relationships, that much is obvious. All I know is that this song made me cry the first time I listened to it. | |
| Johnny Cash – Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Honestly, I like the Cash version of the song more than the NIN one. I love NIN, but Cash just made this song his own. I don't think I even have to write what I think the song is about, you guys have covered about everything already. | |
