I just love the song, but i'm not sure about the meaning. It might be about holding on to a hopless relationship, trying to work things out. But I can never be sure about what REM mean in their songs, it could be sonthing only they would understand, or simply meaningless? |

Great song, I agree that the song is bout leaving something or probably a relationship behind and moving forward. But i'm not sure if the relationship or he himself is dying, and if the rainy days are those in the relationship or in life itself. |

In my opinion this song doesn't come even close to being one of REM's best. There are many REM songs that are much better, especially the new ones in their last couple of albums. Still there is this much comment on it, it's famous and highly over rated. |
