| Azure Ray – Sea of Doubts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song has a completely new meaning after, for the first time in my entire life, experiencing the death of someone really close to me. Specifically the second stanza. I've occasionally had acquaintances and friends of friends die in my life, but they never hit me very hard emotionally (A spectator I played my part/But nothing could move this heart). However, after the recent death of my best friend, I feel like I have a new perspective on life (He showed me death, and said/"This is how you know you're alive"). This song now makes me cry. |

| Ivy – Ocean City Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this entire album is about getting over a bad friendship/relationship and stepping past it--even if the methods of overcoming it aren't exactly positive (shutting oneself off from everybody else). This is about a girl won't let anyone get close to her because she was hurt in the past. She keeps inside herself because that's the only person she can trust. It works for her, because when things start crumbling around the people she doesn't associate with anymore, she's not getting hurt. It's kind of bittersweet. I love this: "They can’t hurt her like/She’s been hurt before/No one here can get near her anymore " |

| Jane Monheit – Somewhere Over The Rainbow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is my favorite version of this song. Gorgeously sung by my favorite female vocalist. | |
| Vienna Teng – Harbor Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is amazing. It's basically about loyalty in a relationship and how she will never abandon her love. |
|
| Vienna Teng – Lullabye for a Stormy Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I love this song. She's trying to comfort her child during a storm. She tells her kid that when she herself was a child, she went through the same thing, and she shouldn't worry. |

| Vienna Teng – Passage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| what a haunting song. | |

| Jets to Brazil – Cat Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song makes me cry. It's beautiful. The lyrics, the music, the whole idea behind it. My cat recently died a couple months ago, and I'm still pretty hurt from it. I never realized how great a bond could be between a pet and an owner until my Molly died. I felt like this song was written for me and her. | |

| David Bowie – Space Oddity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Oddity "Space Oddity" is also a powerful narrative, echoing Arthur C. Clarke's book, and Stanley Kubrick's movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey, both released in 1968. The similarity in titles suggests that film was on Bowie's mind when he wrote it. The main character in that novel (and in the movie) is called "David Bowman". The song is often interpreted to be about self-destruction and estrangement from humanity. Major Tom's cryptic last message, "Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles / I'm feeling very still / And I think my spaceship knows which way to go / Tell my wife I love her very much (She knows!)", suggests that he is still alive and well and chooses to kill his circuit to ground control. Bowie seems to confirm this interpretation with his 1980 follow up to "Space Oddity", "Ashes to Ashes", where Ground control eventually receives a message from Major Tom: "I'm happy, hope you're happy too". Drug users, specifically those who experiment with hallucinogens, find the song took on new meaning following Bowie's battle with drugs in the 1970s. In "Ashes to Ashes", Major Tom's communication failure could be reinterpreted as losing human contact due to drugs. In an interview on VH1 Legends in 1997, the narrator and Bowie himself stated that the inspiration was his relationship with Hermione Farthingale, a woman who Bowie had deep feelings toward. |

| beautiful. | |
| The Beatles – All My Loving Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I kind of don't take it as only a song between lovers and married couples. My dad used to be in the navy when I was young so he always used to sing this to me whenever he'd be out to sea for weeks/months. Old memories. :) | |

| Patsy Cline – Why Can't He Be You? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| it's about how she used to be in a relationship that, though it wasn't the most nurturing or beneficial, was so unforgettable that she can't get over it and can't fully immerse herself in another relationship after. | |
| Patsy Cline – A Church, a Courtroom, and Then Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Rilo Kiley – Does He Love You? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think that when Jenny is on the phone with her friend and her friend tells her about the other woman, she didn't know beforehand that it was her friend's husband she was having an affair with. "Let's not forget ourselves good friend I am flawed if I'm not free and your husband will never leave you, he will never leave you for me" I take those words as if Jenny is trying to assure her friend (who just found out her best friend is seeing her husband) that it's nothing serious. She'd rather be free than with someone, and that the husband will never leave the wife. Of course, all that she is saying aren't her true feelings (meaning, she really DOES want to be with the husband, but she'll sacrifice that love for the sake of her best friend). I don't know. That's what I thought. I guess it is kind of implausible that Jenny hadn't met her best friend's husband before, though. Hm, who knows? Haha. |

| Eisley – Vintage People Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I love this song. :] It's definitely one of my favorites of their's. The song is relatively easy to understand. Well, at least in my opinion. I tend to think of a girl who has had many boyfriends and crushes in her past, but then all of a sudden she meets someone that blows everyone else out of the water. Also, the way that "But I've never met someone quite like you" is sung makes me think that maybe she's almost confused or bewildered (in a happy-surprised way) as to how this person is so perfect and fitting. Then the rest of the song basically talks about wonderful their relationship is. Yeah. |

| Patsy Cline – Crazy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm most definitely not into country, but Patsy Cline is one of my favorite female vocalists. :) She's amazing. | |

Everyone seems to mistake Boa with BoA. They are two different artists. The one that does this song is a band from Britain. Just thought I'd clear that up. :) |

| Rilo Kiley – A Better Son/Daughter Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
what i'm about to say sounds kind of depressing, but oh well: even if you're unhappy and angsty, if you put a smile on your face regardless of what you'tr feeling, it usually helps to mend things. the people around you are more likely to be with you when you're happy--even if it isn't genuine. in turn, you'll feel better because of everyone around you. i know it's kind of bad because i'm basically saying people only like being with others when they are fun and happy, but that's the truth... and i think everyone has to realize that. that's what i think of this song. |
