| Big Black – Jordan, Minnesota Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Frightening, indeed. I couldn't understand what Albini is screaming, though, until i read lyrics here. Good stuff - one of their best songs. |
| Underworld – Tongue Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Fantastic song - it might not have any particular meaning, but its so relaxing. And it doesn't sound a bit dated now, although it was written in 1994. | |
| Nailbomb – Wasting Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Just saw the video for it. Now that's one brutal track... |
| Swans – I Was a Prisoner in Your Skull Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Disturbing as hell, but quite amusing too. I like that line especially Everyone knows that you are fucked up. And everyone knows that I am fucked up. But, does everyone know that you are more fucked up than me? Well, I know that. And you know that. But our purpose is to tell everyone that. |
| Alice in Chains – What The Hell Have I Lyrics | 19 years ago |
One of the lesser known and probably one of the best songs ever done by AiC. One of the key phrases here is - "its hard to start things over". I hope that it will make sense to anyone - when your relationship is over, quite often you still can't get over it and constantly think about how you could make it work. Its sad, but its the way that it goes - the problem is not so much in finding a new relationship, but getting over an old one, which is extremely difficult. |
| 50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No, i can't even accept it as good club music. At least mentioned trip-hop have its great moments - take Morcheeba, for example. 50 Cent is nowhere near being amusing or funny or deep at any level. |
| A Perfect Circle – Weak And Powerless Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Remember the title of an album ? Its 13th step - since there are 12 steps in Alcoholics Anonymous code, the whole thing is certainly drug/substance abuse related. At first I thought that its a love song, but now it seems more likely that its about being weak over drug (although i can still see possible love/drug connection here) |
| The God Machine – Purity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Few ever heard of them, which is a pity. They were a crushing musical force, not unlike the early Swans. Anyway...this song seems to be self-explanatory - its about isolation and i find these words quite powerful, then there's a long intro to this song and echoing main words "its the same all over" which make it all even more powerful. |
| Darkest Hour – This Will Outlive Us Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I suppose that one can see double-meaning here: Its either about situation in Iraq and coming GW Bush or just the failure of social system which used to be stronger back in the day. |
| Today Is The Day – The Begging Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Proto-Coil ambience - sexy and scary as hell. It all ends up with a Chrysler commercial, which makes it even more messed up. |
| Juliana Hatfield – Because We Love You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Really nice and sweet song - maybe even too sweet, but its ok. Better than most of adult alternative crap anyway. | |
| Sean Paul – Temperature Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually anyone who thinks differently is missing the point .... Sean Paul is talking about serious social issues - abuse in the family. He actually says "I can beat the papa, you can beat the mom". |
| The Young Gods – September Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a cover of famous Kurt Weill song made by this innovative band. There's also a cover of this song which was made by Sinatra, but i never heard and i seriously doubt that it match this one. It really reminds me of the situation with "The Man Who Sold The World" where the band took one song and made it entirely their own. |
| Fear Factory – Flashpoint Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Kick-ass song - i love the "gasoline" break... And yes - lyrics it seems to be about a liar who is always afraid that someone will discover what he was doing... |
| Nirvana – Big Long Now Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Veeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow song - quite possibly one of their most depressive ones. As for lyrics....it might be about pointlessness of trying to climibi the social ladder and stuff, but it might not have any meaning at all. |
| Depeche Mode – Only When I Lose Myself Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song and a great video as well...if anyone ever saw it, it was based on a series of paintings where people who died in car crashes come back to life. Freaky, to say the least, but fits their gloominess. This should have been placed on "Ultra", but somehow ended up as a separate single... As for a meaing - it seems to be about love, but might have a double meaning: I can feel the emptiness inside me fade & disappear There's a feeling of content that now you are here Maybe its about love akin to drug - you know, the chemistry and all that stuff. When its gone, you start to feel withdrawal symptoms, so Dave is obviously painting good parallels to drug use. |
| Fear Factory – Pisschrist Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Really love the ending of the song - so scary, ahh... | |
| Godflesh – Anything Is Mine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Crushing, simplt crushing. Of course its the typical bleakness that you would expect from mr. Broadrick. |
| The Replacements – Fuck School Lyrics | 19 years ago |
That's probably the way that every kid feels once or more in a lifetime. This song transmit the message thousand times better than "Another Brick In The Wall" |
| Coldplay – Talk Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This one of those "guilty pleasures" for me. Usually, i find Coldplay music boring (aside from this one and maybe Moses) and lifeless plus Chris Martin's ego is bigger than the Universe, but this song is an exception. Yes - they did took away part of "Computer Love", but... Lyrics do mean something to me - and i think that version about rap music is not so far off. Well - its not about rap music per se (even with references to brother), as much as about stupidity that current pop culture is promoting so well. You know - with all the ideas about how money can buy nearly anything, we're loosing one of the most important things that we humans have - ability to communicate with each other. Money by themselves don't guarantee happiness and they won't produce as much excitement as friend, girlfriend or simply another friendly human being. We tend to forget that with all the popularity of thug rap and violence these days. |
| 50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics | 19 years ago |
One of the major indicators of how low current culture is. Its all either recycled crap or "Candy Shops" for 11-year old girls. What a way to go. |
| Hüsker Dü – The Girl Who Lives On Heaven Hill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Quite melodic (but still retaining punk edge) and very obvious. Its also catchy as hell - just like "Dead Set On Destruction" or "Don't Wanna Know..." it sticks in your head forver. |
| Hüsker Dü – Dead Set On Destruction Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Obviously, its a song about anxiety or pain related to endless waiting due to circumcstances. However, knowing that DUs wrote many political songs, my guess is that it might have another meaning - quite possibly, war in Vietnam or some similar event. Simply put - logic tells that "waiting" and "destruction" don't mix very well. |
| Depeche Mode – Walking In My Shoes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song and quite emotional too. I guess that its about perception. You know how quick some people are to judge others without knowing much about them ? That's what it is to me. |
| R.E.M. – Find The River Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Probably one of the saddest song ever written. Its quite emotional, if you know what i mean. Musically, it reminds of what Kurt Cobain was doing on Unplugged show a couple of years later. |
| Juliana Hatfield – My Sister Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Really like this song, but the point is... I had the same relationship with my older brother when we were little. I mean - i hated his guts, he hated mine, but now its all gone and i think that he's a wonderful person. But one line that's confusing is I miss my sister, why'd she go ? No idea whether she means death or just simple absence of her sister. |
| Massive Attack – Protection Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Probably one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. | |
| Massive Attack – Protection Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Probably one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. | |
| Isis – The Beginning And The End Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Ass-kicking song and a great opener for an album. Although its somewhat to hard to figure out what the words are... |
| Céline Dion – My Heart Will Go On Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is the worst tripe that i heard in my entire life. Whoever says that Celine Dion voice is beautiful is a liar and have should have his hands cut off. |
| Sworn Enemy – Scared of the Unknown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yes, to me it almost sounded like a rewrite of Wherever I May Roam. Not a very good thing. |
| Hüsker Dü – Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Fantastic song - hits on all cylinders, especially if you went through something similar. | |
| Dead Can Dance – I Can See Now (live) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Quite sad song about failing relationship which is not an uncommon subject for many of DCD songs (see also Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove). I just love how Brendan Perry voice sounds in that song - majestic is the right word. | |
