I agree completely with the marriage idea. When I first heard this song I could see how this would be a guy talking and proposing to his girl. I'm a suspect, I'm a traitor, I'm only here in body visiting. Yellow faces in the distance screams, "The beauty is in what isn't said," I'm rising to my feet, The traitor and suspect lines in the beginning of the song might be about how he might have cheated on her or how he may have not been very trustworthy in the past. The beauty line is him saying how the beauty of their love and proposal isn't in the words that he says to her while proposing. Rising to his feet is when he gets off his knees. The refrain I think speaks for itself. He wants to chase the light of love and life with her and also tries to briefly (but beautifully) describe how he feels that night. My gesso, my last call, My life is yours in your gifted hands. Confetti rainfall in a quiet street. These things I've found are special now, The knot is in my reach. I agree with the confetti idea. I don't think the knot line has anything to do with "tying the knot" (sheer coincidence), but instead I think he is saying that she has saved him and that he is ready to grab the knot on the rope and pull him self up with her. The life in her hands might be how he everything is up to her to say yes. A movie, still photograph, Through a martyr's eyes I can see, I've seen the best of love, the best of hate, the best reward is earned, And I've paid for every single word I ever said. A reflection on the life of the relationship and I think it shows how he has matured. No relationship goes 100% smoothly. In her he found his greatest reward but it didn't come easily. I love the refrain, especially how he says the world turned in him and how he doesn't dare to breathe. In my eyes, this song is all about a proposal. Let me know what you think! |
