I only discovered how beautiful this song was a few days ago... and now i've listened to it properly i can see what you mean about making you cry... "i'll steal a hacksaw from my dad and cut the braces off your legs and we'll bury them tonight in the cornfield" thats the line that gets me... so simple and innocent... Its now up there with Fish and Bird, Poor Edward and Fawn as the Tom waits songs that affect me most! |

I woke up thismorning after haiving a dream that somebody loved me... put media player on random and this was the first song to be played... talk about a kick in the nuts! everything about this song is so powerful, the long intro that just drags you in, the overwhelming arrangement when he starts singing and the simplicity of the words themselves... |

IS it a problem that every now and then a song is obviosly about what its about? Just beacuse its talking about sex in a way that is in your face doesnt mean that its not as worthy as a song like Lakin's Juice or Ghost. this song has such a good rhythm to it, it just makes you want to move! and yes, its about a jealous guy who wants to know if his ex's new bloke is as good as him...but does that just have to be about sex...? anyway, good song... good band... and apparently he doesnt run it deep enough (the no babys at the end) |
