I thought it was about Suze Rotolo leaving for Italy also. And i think the song is actually quite simple in that Bob is trying to deal with her leaving. but Bob being Bob, he just complicates everything in such a beautiful way that it somehow makes sense!!! "Oh, but if I had the stars from the darkest night And the diamonds from the deepest ocean, I'd forsake them all for your sweet kiss, For that's all I'm wishin' to be ownin" Such a beautiful verse. He just wants her. Simple. I think it says it brilliantly that you can have everything, but unless you have the love of someone, its all meaningless. |

| I agree with Cortez 08. I think the line..."God's drifting in heaven..." implies that God doesn't really care, or is not interested, in whats happened and like Cortez 08 said, the Devil is there to give a slap in the face to all those affected. | |
