"ingrained"
"roles"
"boys"
"girls"
"like a man"
"legs that sell"
"babes"
"why should we question what is commonplace"
Rudiments were revolutionaries right? Of course this is about gender roles. |

| Bad Religion – I Want to Conquer the World Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
It seems pretty clear that Greg is talking about how the world is messed up, and that he wishes he had the power to take control and make it right. I don't see any clues pointing to this whole idea of 'becoming a leader will corrupt you' that people here keep bringing up.
I think this song genuinely shows the desire to have the power to improve the world. I have been given no reason to believe that the vocalist fears his ability to successfully change the world. |

| The Distillers – Beat Your Heart Out Lyrics

I figured it was a love song, but Brody says it isn't. Yeah, it makes sense. Whenever my heart beats crazy fast it is because I am around someone who is disturbing or scaring me.
I have known people who've caused this to happen to me. It is hard to take. I had to run the damage is done. |

Mistakes and problems happen, but you have your free mind. Your mind isn't tied down and you are a skeptic and you can continue to be true to that. |

| Bad Religion – The Handshake Lyrics
|
If you accept a handshake, you are supporting, accepting, or allowing a shallow, purely capitalistic relationship with someone. The handshake does not symbolize anything other than a deal being made.
A song about a handshake may seem trivial, but Bad Religion is a punk band. Don't ignore things. Pay attention to what's going on around you so you can fight things like this. This is why I love punk rock. These artists think like me, so I get more things for my free mind to question. |

| Greg Graffin – Talk About Suffering Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I think he is sort of showing how sadly stubborn people could be. They would stick to believing god even though it does nothing for them and they continually suffer. I interpreted it that way even though Greg did not write it.
Thinking about it like that makes it sad but it also opens your eyes to a problem. |

| Bad Religion – Live Again (The Fall of Man) Lyrics

This song inspired me to question life quite a bit. That last quote, "what good is something if you can't have it until you die?" is pretty powerful. I dont really like this song, it didnt work with the rest of the CD. But sound doesnt always matter and Bad Religion is a great band anywyas, right? |

Moonboy said: "We do not expect people to accept their consequences anymore, which ultimately will lead to our country's greatest downfall."
I disagree because our nation has done worse than cause materialistic issues in children. Even though that is dumb as hell too. |

The sound may not be punk to lets kill music, and I agree that BR's new music is a bit too mellow, but the songs all have punk meaning and have contributed to the active punk scene greatly. I have to say BR is a great band no matter what it sounds like. It's the lyrics that count guys. |

Punkpirate has to be right. I would be very suprised if it werent an allegory. Think about the amoeba as us... and the scientists, well conformists like punkpirate said. If that isnt the exact idea they were going for, it shouldnt be far off. |

I definatley disagree with Ass_Cobra and Kuffs. The rest of you guys got it for sure.
I recently went to a third world country. It is so FUCKING horrible to see conditions out there then see Americans so blind! It hurts to be a part of America.
And about the most remembered song by bad religion- thatstoo hard because there are many that have similar meanings that are no better than others. In the end the answer to that question may be a personal biew that has to do with what the song sounds like since all the songs have excellent meanings. -heh* |
