| Hollywood Undead – My Black Dahlia Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The girl this song is based on was named Elizabeth short and she was brutally murdered as has already been stated. But I read part of a book about the case and I thought I'd just elaborate on what was actually done to her. She was found in a vacant lot at around ten-ish or so in the morning on January fifteenth, 1947. She had been cut in half, drained of all blood, had some internal organs removed, her mouth was slashed on both sides almost to each ear and she had slashes on her face. When she was abandoned, the killer posed her with her hands raised up above her head and laid the two sections of her body so that they were close to each other on the ground like two halves of a manequin. Some people who first saw it just thought it was some chick sleeping on the ground. They never found her killer. She was only twenty-two years old. Isn't that sad? Anyway, about the song now. I think it's about how his girlfriend cheated on him and he found out which shattered his trust. So he murdered her and this is him explaining what he was feeling and that he's sorry for what he's done, but she hurt him so it sort of had to be that way. It's a really powerful song and I'm so glad my friend gave it to me because I'm going through a bunch of relationship shit and this song is really helping me out. Not the cheating or the killing part, but the message of hurt and apology is exactly what's going on. My favorite lines and the most powerful parts to me are: I used to be lovestruck, now I'm just fucked up. Pull up my sleeve and see the pattern of my cuts. Seems like all we had is over now you left to rest. And your tears are dried up now, you just lay without a sound. Seems like all we had is over now, you left to rest. And my fears are over now, I can leave with my head down. My friend used this song in a Harry Potter Fan Fiction story. Everybody go check it out. Her pen name is Automn145 and the story is called Lost Control. But be prepared for sadness. |

My friend thought this was the band that did "The Emo Song" for some reason and started getting in to their other music. I told her that's Adam and Andrew who do that particular song, but she still liked these guys and got me in to them too. This song is so flippin' wrong, but I like it. What is the name of the guy who says: BEEP BEEP hey, you girls need a ride? GET INSIDE! You BETTER put out, DONT MAKE ME HATE YOU.. I think he sounds hella hot right there on those lines. Somebody please tell me who that is! Lol. I don't know which one is which yet. I just found out about Hollywood Undead a few days ago and I only know three songs so far. |

| Good Charlotte – All Black Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Okay so are there any Goths commenting on this song or am I the magical lucky number one? Anyway, this song is not in any way, shape or form sarcastic that I can readily tell. This is actually how some people think, act and feel. Some people find black to be a very solid calming color and nighttime is when a lot of individuals feel most comfortable. Some are big on funerals because they are able to see beyond the sorrow of the event and find the beauty in it. I shall explain this using myself as an example because this song is practically my anthem. I was born on Halloween and all my life, I always felt a little strange. I kinda felt like I was weirdly different from other people. I had a love for the holiday that was my birthday that became an obsession. I loved witches, ghosts, vampires, pumpkins and all that. I dreamed of being Sally the rag doll from The Nightmare Before Christmas and of being Jack's girlfriend. As I grew older, I got in to the Goth scene and began to unlock some things that had been buried deep down inside of me for most of my life. I realized that when wearing black, I felt so much more relaxed and comfortable than when I wore bright colors. I discovered that I belonged to the night like it was the one time in which I felt content and happiest. I learned to see the beauty in death because all that it is is a sleep. Life is great, but death is a part of it and all we do is go to sleep until Jesus returns to take us to heaven. It's just part of God's life design. Totally meant to happen. Okay so I know I'm ranting, but the point here is that you cannot overdo the black in this song because it's the truth for a lot of people. P.S. The beginning music is the best! P.P.S. "Paint It Black" is an awesome song! |

| Good Charlotte – Dance Floor Anthem Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Good Charlotte has definitely gone in a direction I wasn't really expecting. They're more dancy, sort of poppy than they used to be, but I don't hate it. I really like this song. It's totally how I feel right now. The first verse is what I'm going through and I don't want to be in love! | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Breath Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think he's saying that he's completely in love with this chick, but she has no feelings for him: "I see nothing in your eyes and the more I see, the less I like". I think he's saying that he wants to be in her life, but the salt in the wound thing is a metaphor for how he's torn open by her obvious rejection and it stings. He's saying that he wants her to sacrifice herself--give herself up entirely--so he can take her and have her for himself. I see this as being a possible connection with "The Diary of Jane" because in that song, he was trying to erase her other guy[s] and here he's trying to get her to be his. | |
| Nickelback – Side of a Bullet Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Okay, I feel like a total loser. I've owned this cd since it came out [almost] and I never knew it was about Dimebag. I mean, I knew it was about someone being shot and killed, but I never really paid enough attention I guess. I thought it was about somebody like breaking in and committing a murder in front of the victim's brother or something. I only found out a few days ago and listened to the song and it made sense then. But in my own defense, I didn't even know much about Pantera except that they did the song "Walk" until like less than a year and a half ago so I'm only half stupid, right? | |
| Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race (Remix) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I listen to like a million different types of music: All subgenres of rock and metal, country, rap, hip hop, Christian, oldies and so on. I really like it when a band can take their style--the style their fans know and love them for--and mix it up with another band or artist's style. Sometimes the outcome rocks and sometimes it blows, but that isn't the point. The point is that they have the guts, the drive and the creativity to try something new and out of the norm for them. This song is played both on the alternative and rap/hip hop stations I listen to and I think that's pretty cool that Fallout Boy can make a song that receives air play on multiple types of stations. I wasn't really sure if I liked this track at first, but it grew on me quickly. I like Fallout Boy and I like Kanye West so what's not to like about this shiznit right here? I get a double shot of two good things. I hear this song as a sort of anthem. It's like calling everybody to sort of ... How do I put this in to words? ... Be whatever you're going to be and fack any loser who doesn't like it. Examples: "This ain't a scene" equals "This isn't no pop, rock, rap, Hollywood or any other scene. This is people doing whatever the hell they feel is good and right for them and being different from the crowd." "It's a G-- damn arms race" equals "Arms means weapons and we are always using words as weapons to attack and label everybody else, trying to pack them in to these neat little catagories so that we can keep tabs on everyone. It's like we're all racing to see who can gun down the most or prove that all the other people are beneath us." I don't really know. That's just my initial thoughts. I have only read these lyrics once so I may have missed something. But if what I just wrote is right about the meaning, then it is a very truthful song. We can't just be people any more. We've got to be divided and branded preps, Goths, Emos, punks, gangsters and so on. And it doesn't even stop there. Then we've got to break it down even further. You've got you're normal preps, your stoner preps, your poseur Goths, your stoner Goths, your disturbed Goths, your poseur Emos, your stoner Emos, your bleeding-heart Emos, your stoner punks, your poseur gangsters, your Hespanic and African-American gangsters, your lily-ass white gangsters and then, the ever strange Emo/Goth, punk/Goth and prep-wanna-be-one-of-the-above cross-overs. Oh and let's not forget hippies! Gah! Too many divisions and subdivisions! It makes my head spin! Why can't we just go back to the good old days when we were all just ordinary people?! Why, God, why?! |

| FM Static – Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I hear this song and I want to cry. It's so sad, but true beauty at the same time. I think it's about someone remembering moments and experiences with their best friend who may have been killed or in a car accident. This song makes me think of a very dear friend who died two years ago. We thought she was getting better, but she died two days after sending an email to her boss saying she was coming back to work. RIP Suzanne Lange. I still love you. |

| Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When it comes to song interpretations, I think two things: [1]. Any song holds the potential to mean something completely different for each person. [2]. The song can have more than one meaning to it. With these two things in mind, I think it's quite safe to say that what I think, what my neighbor thinks, what the girl who sits behind me in fifth period history and what Cory Taylor thinks about the message of this song could totally conflict with each other. For Cory, it very well may be about looking through a drinking glass at his wife or a mirror at himself and may be about Scarlet helping him cope with his troubles, but it isn't about alcoholism for me. Last night, my ex-boyfriend and I were talking on the phone and both listening to the same local rock radio station at our separate houses. We had spent around two hours talking about everything from art, to our families, to memories of the past and aour failed romantic relationship. We had just reached a really significant moment in which we both knew that our friendship was unconditional and would be for always and forever. Then this song came on and I don't know how to explain it, but it seemed to connect us in a deeply magical, loving and beautiful way. We were each sitting there singing the words of the song and it was like we were singing it to one another. It was like we were talking about all the times we've been alone in our lives and how sadness has enveloped us and no one else could understand because it was like we were both looking through a glass window at them. You only understand when you're on the inside, experiencing everything first-hand. In those few minutes, it was like we were comforting each other and assuring each other that we would take care of one another and that all would be well. I don't know how to describe it any better than that, but this song now holds great and powerful meaning to me. |

| Counting Crows – Round Here Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Oh, my gosh! A song about me! Lol. I remember a time back when I was a kid when I couldn't wait to find the secret to being popular. I wanted to dress and dance in ways that would make all the boys' heads turn, I wanted crowds of people to call out greetings in the hallways at school, I wanted everyone to know my name, I wanted to date the hottest guys and be envied by the cheerleaders, but there came a day when I just said, "Screw it!" I stopped trying to impress everybody else and stopped worrying about being popular. I decided that even if people laughed at me or talked shit behind my back, it didn't matter so long as I was happy being myself and I am. That's what this song is about. Learning to be content as you are. | |
| Everclear – AM Radio Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's definitely obvious what this is about. Growing up in the seventies without all the computers and CD's and technological crap we have today and still having a great time. It reminds me of my own childhood. I remember my friend and I sittin' out on the sidewalk with a box of old junk trying to sell it for an extra buck and listening to the radio. I think I owned like one CD then. I remember kicking it in the summertime sunshine, going down to the creek with my dog and my friend and when I started going to concerts. It was good times back before the IPod and shiznit. Anybody else remember the good ol' days? lol | |
| My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Hey, I_Dont_Love_You, I totally get what you're saying. You're not crazy, but my vision's a bit different. I see like Russians or Germans dancing around singing and Jerard is in the middle, singing to an old lady in a rocking chair and crying because her son has returned from the war with only one leg. I don't really know what this song is about, but I sort of get the feeling that it might have something to do with going off to war and coming back with a deeper realization and understanding of life and how things are. He has lost his boyish innocence now and is sort of bitter now that he knows the truth. I really love this song. One of the best of the new album. | |
| Fall Out Boy – Pretty in Punk Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Just heard this song for the first time. Really like it. "and he stands alone, because he's high on himself" Makes me think of my ex boyfriend. He thinks he's such a big shot that none of the smart girls can stand him so he doesn't have a girlfriend right now. Hahaha! You suck, Roger! |

| Weird Al Yankovic – White & Nerdy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is so hilarious! Even my American Lit teacher likes it! It's totally my stepdad's theme song. It's not so much that he is a genius at technology [He couldn't figure out how to open the DVD player when it said PRESS right on the lid]. and he doesn't know a thing about D&D, but he really digs that song "Show Stopper" by Danity Cane and "Chain Hang Low" by Jibbs, he tries to talk gangster sometimes and he just starts going off about Sci Fi. shows I've never even freakin' heard of. He's also really white with red hair and wears glasses. He's majorly nerdy in so many little ways I can't even begin to hope to list, but he's pretty funny. I love him. And who said it was a bad thing to be geeky? Aren't we all somewhere deep down inside? I know I can be. I'm a computer freak. But I must ask, who is Steven Hawking? Am I stupid for asking that? Oh, oh! I just remembered that this song also makes me think of two of my exes. One of them was out with some gangster dudes casing out cars in my friend's friend's neighborhood and one thinks he's a wigger. That second one wants to join the Nortes, but they would so kick his skinny little white ass in five seconds. They both are such idiots. I feel bad for the first one's daughter. Emily, I am so sorry things didn't work out between me and your dad so that I could try and shelter you from his stupidity, but he won't let me see you now. |

| V-mob – Feel No Shame Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Corey Taylor sings on this song with Korn? I can only hear Jonathan Davis and the music sounds like Korn's style, not SlipKnot's, but what do I know? Unless the guy at the beginning saying, "Is anyone alive out there? Can anyone hear me?" is Corey Taylor. Anyway, this song is used in the movie Queen of The Damned as the opening I think. It's been a while since I watched it. Anyway, really great song. I listen to it when I get especially pissed off at someone. | |
| Sullivan – Down Here We All Float Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I wasn't sure if the singer was a chick or a dude the first time I heard it. It's pretty Emo sounding for one thing, but the voice is also so soft and beautiful that I couldn't figure it out right off. This remains the only Sullivan song I know, but I wish to find more. Does anyone know where I can find a biography for them? | |

| Flyleaf – Tina Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I can't even begin to explain the impression this song left on me. It's hard to describe what I was feeling tonight as I stood there in the audience of a Flyleaf and Three Days Grace show and this song was introduced. I remember feeling ... horrified at what this woman did to herself, but amazed at how she was saved and able to live to tell Lacey her story so that others could be warned and aware. Lacey said that a woman approached her and told her that she used to think marriage and children would solve all her problems, that she'd be happy for ever after. But her husband abused her so badly that she no longer wanted to wake up in the morning so she poured gasoline on herself and lit herself on fire. She said it was such terrible pain that she just prayed for release and then she passed out in a coma. When she woke up and found that she was alive, she knew there was a god and that she had the opportunity to tell her story to others. That is true courage and faith. Praise God! Rock on, Lacey! You're beautiful! And God bless, lady. |

| My Chemical Romance – I Never Told You What I Do For a Living Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Tried to hold on one more night without her, but couldn't make it. I think that's what the blood in the bed means, but I could be wrong. I think it's a continuation of Jerard's suicide. | |
| My Chemical Romance – It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Okay, y'all have got to understand that I have a rather overactive morbid imagination and so everything seems a lot darker and more disturbing to me so I beg pardon for anything creepy I may say next. I think it's about the guy digging up her body so that he can have her with him. He may possibly be trying out necromancy in an attempt to bring her back to life, but I'm not sure. Maybe he's committing suicide in order to escape this world which is like death to him without her and he now views the afterlife as the real life if she's there. |
|
| My Chemical Romance – Hang 'Em High Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I dunno. It's a lot different from the other songs on the album. I think it is about a girl asking him if he would die for her and him saying I've told you a million times before and would I tell you lies? I don't know, but I think it's like them going through the desert and Jerard getting in a gun fight with someone else for her along the way. It's got a totally western theme about it. I kinda think it's like a Bonnie and Clyde thing goin' on. Anyone else get what I mean? | |
| My Chemical Romance – Thank You For The Venom Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I don't see it as being so much about religion or the music industry really. I think this is about him talking to his dead girlfriend and sort of saying that he blames himself for her death. She was with someone else, she felt guilty and began to abuse drugs to numb her pain and confusion and when that failed to work, she killed herself. He feels as though it's his fault because if he had just walked away, she'd still be alive wouldn't have had to lie to the other person she was with first. I think the lines I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me I'm just the way the doctor made me May mean that he wouldn't stop acting as though he didn't love her or pretending that everything's all right no matter what because that wouldn't be the truth and I get the feeling that the second line could possibly refer to perscription medication like maybe an antidepressant. Love is the red of the rose on your coffin door What's life like, bleeding on the floor I like those two lines the best out of the whole song. I imagine him looking at a red rose on the top of the coffin and thinking of how vibrant and real the color is and compares it to how his love was for her. What's life like, bleeding on the floor could be like saying that he can feel his life draining out of him without her. I basically just think this whole song is about his shame, guilt and regret and that poison and pills refers to getting drunk or high to deal with it. It is possible that the bit about the gun on the book and who will save him and whatever could be about how he doesn't feel like anyone can save him from his sorrow. |
|
| My Chemical Romance – Interlude Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's about asking angels to protect and be with his lover now that she's gone. I don't know whether they are angels of heaven or hell, but I'm inclined to think heaven. That's just me though. | |
| My Chemical Romance – The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Apparently, we are all committing some great sin against the great and powerful gods of correctness and accuracy since we are all exorcising our right to freedom of speech and posting what we think. Ah, well. Screw all of you people who think you're the shit and are absolutely positive you know what's going on. Have you not managed to comprehend the name of this site? Song Meanings? That implies that there is always more than one meaning of a song and that it is up to everyone to decide individually what it is about to them. To me, this does continue right along with the concept album theory we've already established, but I believe it offers some more information and insight in to the night the lady killed herself. I think she had resourted to drugs [most likely methamphetamine] to help her deal with her pain, guilt and confusion and her lover watched her getting high many times, possibly even indulging in it himself on occasion. I think she may have been under the influence of drugs on the night she slit her wrist and he ly next to her until the cops came. That would explain the down and last night parts. I agree that the hotel reference is possibly about the afterlife. | |

| My Chemical Romance – The Ghost of You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Since many of us have already decided we think this is a concept album, this would again tell us more about our cheating bride and her lover. My interpretation is that the girl commits suicide and he's like, "But wait a second! I never said I would kill myself to escape the complication of our lives so why have you?" I feel like he may have been there to hold her as she died and he couldn't stop her from going and he knows how badly he'll always miss her. | |

| My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is one of my favorite songs off the album if not my favorite. I think it's something about the pair of lovers and the woman is saying is how she wants to be honest and not hide what she's doing with him from her other guy. I don't really know and it's hard to explain, but I just think it's about him dealing with memories and trying to convince him that he's okay when he knows full well that he's not. I think the dirty looks thing might be about how the woman and the guy she's cheating with get looked at really nastily when they go out and are seen by people who know or assume the chick is cheating. The thing about pictures being taken by her boyfriend is possibly a reference to some sort of personal erotic photographs taken of the two of them by her other boyfriend, the one she is cheating on. I'm sorry, it makes sense in my head. There's just not words. | |

| My Chemical Romance – You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm probably wrong, but I think it's about him starting a gun fight and killing someone so he can get himself thrown in jail, hopefully condemned to death so he doesn't have to live without his lover. | |
| My Chemical Romance – To The End Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's about a woman who is seeing two different guys, but only one of them knows about it. Then one of the guys proposes to her and she accepts which pisses off the second guy. Guy 2 is so pissed off in fact that he tells her that she has the choice and that if she doesn't walk away from the marriage, he'll be gone. She marries guy 1 anyway, but she eventually realizes that she's mostly only in it for her husband's money and that she still loves guy 2 because she still keeps his picture. I also get the feeling that her husband may be bi or gay. I think the first line of the song is sort of a foreshadowing of the future when someone will die in that house. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Give 'Em Hell Kid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| As I was reading the lyrics, I got the feeling that this song is about a loved one suddenly being absent from his life and him going on an insane killing sprea to take out all his emotions. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Helena Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Okay, how can this song be about his grandmother's death? I mean, it's definitely about a loved one dying, but some of the lyrics and the music video don't exactly fit that interpretation, but I didn't write the song so I'm just as dumb as the next person. However, I see this as the beginning of a concept album that tells a very tragic story. I think it's about a lover who has committed suicide for some reason we don't quite know of yet. We find out later. | |

| Tupac Shakur – Thugs Get Lonely Too Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Basically, his lady is gettin' all pissed off 'cuz he keeps shootin' off to do a tour and leavin' her home alone. She thinks he's out there cheatin' on her with the groupies and the hoes, but he's just tryna make money to put food on the table and when he's away all he can think about is her. He can't wait to get home and make love to her, show her how badly he's missed her. Just about how no matter how hardcore ya are, how far ya go or what happens, you still miss your family and loved ones and they are what means the most to you. | |
| Tupac Shakur – Ghost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
My friend gave me this album for Christmas and I have to say that this is one of my favorite songs off it. Pretty easy to see the meaning: Mother did drugs and had too many kids to be able to take the time to pay attention to individuals, father tried to tell his son not to smoke but started coughin' on his own haze, gangsters pullin' up out of nowhere tryna kill ya and you gotta retaliate just to protect yourself and the police are always after you because you done somethin' wrong. It's the true story of so many people's lives in the ghettos. I'm a little bit of what you might call a wigger so whenever I'm in a gangster mood, I play this song. It's a good one for getting out frustrations and anger. Don't go out and kill a cop though because that's bad. Never kill, kids, unless it's absolutely in self defense. I gots a friend who killed someone and it ain't a good thing. |

| Tupac Shakur – Brenda's Got a Baby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't know many songs by Tu Pac to be honest, but I've got one of his albums and I really love what I've heard of him. I love his voice, his rapping style and the way he captures the raw real hardcore truth of all situations. I love the way he tells stories in sympathetic or explanatory ways rather than judgmentally. This song makes me think of my ex-best friend who had a boyfriend back about three years ago and who she thought she was going to marry as soon as she got out of high school. She said they were gonna be together forever and have eight children. She even had their names picked out and everything. But then she started to think that she didn't want to wait till she was eighteen to have herself a baby and started pestering her boyfriend to get her pregnant that year. He was hesitant, but eventually gave in. They never got the chance to be alone long enough to do it though which is good because I know that a fourteen year old girl and a fifteen year old boy could not have raised a child together in their situation. My friend was going to be a cheerleader and the guy would have skipped out once she was pregnant. They broke up a few months later and I'm so glad they never did anything. She'd have been stuck up in the world all alone without any help and she wouldn't have known what to do. | |

| Okay, are y'all stupid or somethin'? This song seems pretty straightforward in its meaning to me. It's about a sixteen year old boy who was just living his life for the moment without any worries. When he was older, he found out that he had a daughter he never knew about and this song is basically him talking to his child. He's just sort of explaining to her that he was so stupid and irresponsible back then and he made mistakes like this one. He wasn't there for his little girl. He loves her, but he knows she's angry and upset with him. It's just a father trying to soften his daughter and help her to understand, trying to get close to her. | |

I really like this song. It's got great music, great lyrics and a great message. It truly is an anthem for girls. Girls can do anything they set their minds to and nobody can bring 'em down no matter what. Fight to the death for what you want! I really like these lines: We are girls with skinned knees We are concrete and grace [Girls have the scars of hard work and sacrifice to show what they've been through to get what they want. Girls are beautiful, but they're also strong and hardcore fighters]. Here's to the girls on their boards With bruises and scars Here's to the girls whose fingers bleed From playing guitar [Skateboarders and guitarists who have bled and dealt with pain to achieve their goals]. We are fire inside We are an army asleep We are a people awaking To follow their dreams [Inside, the fire of determination is stirring. We are an army of warriors merely asleep, but slowly waking up and igniting their initiative and will again. We're opening our eyes once more to our dreams and chasing after them]. There are trophies to win Instead of being one of yours [Girls will work to win their own honor and glory and won't just stand around like an ornament in a guy's life]. |

| I love this movie so much! It is so meaningful and amazing with a great message. This song is also extraordinarily powerful. Being Native American myself, I believe like Poccahontis that every single thing from humans to animals to trees to rocks have souls and names just like it says in the song. Whether you believe in evolution or some form of creation, we all came from the same place and thus, we are all connected. Man can learn so much from the animals and the plants and truly all of nature so we mustn't go destroying it or we'll never learn the lessons it has to teach us. Even if we look drastically different, we are all the same and we must appreciate and value one another. | |

good job with these lyrics. Only two things. Dripping off your petals, not of, only minor spelling error, and the chorus, 3rd line: Pay the bitches they're touching on their dates, stand by. |
