Just my opinion........I never associated this song with drug addiction. Whether it is or not, it is still sucky and I despise it. I am surprised I haven't broken out in hives just thinking about it. I don't know how listening to it can cheer anyone up. On the contrary, I can see someone hearing it and getting more depressed. The melody is so top 40 formulaic and the words might sound poetic and sincere to someone's grandma who usually listens to easy listening radio. |

Why would it be about a dog? Dogs don't bitch at people.Anyways, that doesn't make sense to me. In my opinion, it is simply about a girlfriend who is always bitching and complaining so he decides to kill her so he doesn't have to hear it anymore. Unfortunately, having listened to it for so long, the complaining and nagging keeps running over and over through his head, which is why he can still hear her. It's supposed to be a joke -- like following up on wishful thinking :) . I know there are phrases that people have said that have stuck in my mind, which I wish I could forget. |

Looks like I disagree with most posts here. I can't stand this song. Mostly because I would often hear it play on the radio in the morning while I would drive to work and yes, I would have a bad day. No one has to agree with me, but I find it depressing and cheesy. (I never saw the video though) |

To me it is about someone who knows he has his soulmate. They may not have much money, but they know they will always have each other. Me and my hubby played it as one of our wedding songs because we relate to it :) |
