| Royal Trux – No Fixed Address Lyrics | 20 years ago |
the meaning --> skinny junkie meets Army recruiter. one of my favorite songs of theirs (especially the live version from '92). could also be about a commercial for the Army, hence "the realm of TV". |

i believe these are unofficial. "sceptre'd ages" might be "except for the ages". that's the only part that i was unsure of. |
| Royal Trux – Turn of the Century Lyrics | 20 years ago |

just i should post the official lyrics from the old website: If you hand me my cape and my dog-headed cane Don't mind the rain, we gotta go downtown Bulletin board says it starts today Clear space and an open way So give me my coat and we'll go down I know you're just a kid Doesn't matter what you did up 'til now Give me my coat and we'll go down I say it's gonna be like a big live TV But don't believe the things you don't see Don't believe me I know there won't be anyone asking why we're there We don't need no tickets Everyone will just let us stare They made their choices just like me And there's things they won't have to see We can just sit and breathe with the trees I say their thoughts are flashing and quick But they move so slow cuz their minds are so thick And if we want we can punch into their heads Feel the wheels moving, we know they'll go on perpetually So bring me my coat and we'll go downtown Go sit in the square where the prisons used to be, just sit around Get our balance in this new gravity You won't have to be some useless kid The only choices so bleak, twisted all upside down So get me my coat little sister and I'll bring the car around |

| Royal Trux – Chairman Blow Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Neil dubs this "a tribute to the heroes of free jazz" in the SLU booklet. i believe these are the official lyrics. not sure exactly what feeding a "koh" entails, but it's Royal Trux, so who knows. |
| Royal Trux – I'm Ready Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| well i'm stumped. | |
| Royal Trux – Teeth Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this song is so bitchin'. the first verse reminds me of preparing for a tornado... "cover everything you can", etc. | |
| Royal Trux – Sanction Smith Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i've always thought the lyric was: "When I'm in trouble, master for goin' too fast I got your number in my pocket..." which makes sense i think, and i can clearly hear "trouble", not "truck world". as far as the meaning goes: sounds like someone's getting a speeding ticket. |
| PJ Harvey – Long Snake Moan Lyrics | 20 years ago |
corrections: "Dunk you under" "die of pleasure" "in my dreaming" |
| PJ Harvey – Hook Lyrics | 20 years ago |
can't believe there's been no comments on this. one of my favorite songs of hers. don't ask me what it's about though. |
| PJ Harvey – Lying in the Sun Lyrics | 20 years ago |
going crazy from the heat, i suppose. hallucinating doves and whatnot. anyway, what a creepy song. |
| PJ Harvey – Meet Ze Monsta Lyrics | 20 years ago |
no, "hell ain't half full", it's half empty. what a lyric, and what a song. a night of evil fun... and a nod to Captain Beefheart. |
| PJ Harvey – Good Fortune Lyrics | 20 years ago |
yes it does sound a bit like a Patti Smith creation. it's also a great pop single. uplifting and catchy. |
| PJ Harvey – O Stella Lyrics | 20 years ago |
gosh, how stupid of me: on second thought... this song must be about a PAINTING that is hanging in a blue blue tavern. my mistake. |
| PJ Harvey – O Stella Lyrics | 20 years ago |
it's believe it's "pink almond face". and it's quite obviously "i face my heroes only". not sure about the meaning. it appears to be a typical bar ballad. a fun song. probably some religious signifigance in the name as well, as was already noted. |
| PJ Harvey – Plants And Rags Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i've always thought this song was about homelessness. "plants and rags / ease myself into a body bag." her current condition. a starving person lying in a ditch somewhere, ready to die alone. "dreamt a man..." self-explanatory. "white and black / you're looking for the sun, boy?...." not entirely sure on this one, but it appears there was a male protagonist at one point, and this lyric may suggest a falling out. poverty will completely destroy a relationship. "house and home, who thought they take away our place..." the cause of all their problems. |
| PJ Harvey – Hardly Wait Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think it's actually "Romeo, make my world as great". anyway, it seems to me this song is about anorexia. people with eating disorders often dream of being in a glass coffin. the lines "it's been so long/i've lost my taste" and "open this wide/eat your heart" are also evocative of that theme. fantastic song, and i especially enjoy the grotesque imagry of "lips cracked dry, tongue blue burst". |
| PJ Harvey – The Whores Hustle and the Hustlers Whore Lyrics | 20 years ago |
seems pretty straightforward. this song has always sounded a bit immature to me, like she wants to write about something she doesn't know anything about. "speak to me of heroin and speed"... uh, ok, whatta you wanna know? and i hate to break it to Sullen Girl, but the evils of our world are not being inflicted upon us by rap artists. |
| PJ Harvey – Driving Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i really like both the interpretations here. except i always assumed "white gown" was referring to a nightgown. |
| PJ Harvey – A Perfect Day Elise Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"said a prayer, PULLED THE TRIGGER, and cried" c'mon, let's not use the censored lyrics. anyway, i think this eerie song is obviously about some kind of murderous activity. possibly a murder, possibly a suicide, maybe even both. |
| PJ Harvey – To Bring You My Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| written down on paper, this song looks about cliched as they come. but listening to it, it's so convincing. you believe every word she's saying, | |
| PJ Harvey – Snake Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| the song is only a minute and a half long, but in my opinion, it's genious. the structure, the melody (if you'd call it that), the Adam and Eve revisionism -- everything about it is just brilliant. | |
| PJ Harvey – The Life and Death of Mr. Badmouth Lyrics | 20 years ago |
these are probably some of her worst lyrics ever. which is too bad, because i really like the music. she went to rubbing 'til it bleeds to washing a mouth out with soap.... literal or not, it's pretty underwhelming. |
| PJ Harvey – Harder Lyrics | 20 years ago |
yeah, no question as to what this is about really. are these official lyrics? i actually thought it was "keeps me in my bed", but "eats meat in my bed" is so raunchy and hilarious. and "that dog can sure hunt"... LOVE that. |
| PJ Harvey – Working For The Man Lyrics | 20 years ago |
yes, i also think it's about an insane man who is picking up and murdering women (not necessarily prostitutes though), and believes he is being commanded by God. i think songs like this are where a lot of Nick Cave/PJH comparisons come in, although musically is really not similar to Cave, and Cave would be much more wordy. PJ and Nick share a lot of similar themes, idealogies, mythologies (especially early PJ), etc... |
| PJ Harvey – Darling Be There Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i love this. it reminds me of someone being buried alive. extremely creepy. | |
