Juli – Perfekte Welle Lyrics 19 years ago
this song is so amazing. and i love the way the whave (welle) is related to the events that come to face you waiting for you to move.
and the whole bridge is amazing.
stellst sich in sturm und schreit 'ich bin hier, ich bin frei' alles was ich will ist zeit.

Rhett Miller – Come Around Lyrics 20 years ago
this song is so broken-hearted mood. it really captures every feeling people have when they're in that desillusional moment of their lives. i think if i had been dumped by a guy i loved and listened to this song, i'd probably cry like a child :x

Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales of San Francisco Lyrics 20 years ago
i haven't read the whole discussion, but i'll just let my opinion about brit/american feud here.
the vision that some people have that one's trying to become the other is quite relative for me (brazilian.) i mean, as far as i know every single british band (even when they toss america) dreams of walking on the red carpet. as weeeell as every american band has fantasies of a number one place in british collumn.
once, billie joe armstrong put it the best way possible: 'every american band knows they've reached total success when they are beloved in britain. as well as every british also recognizes its victory when americans follow them.'
now, why that? i actually think it's because of national opinion. nowadays, british (along with the whole world, which i find sometimes sooo stupid.) see american people as narrow-minded industrialized set-in-a-sequel mass production of dumbasses, which is total prejudice. but this is because of the world's present situation, which has nothing to do with britrock versus all-american rock'n'roll. but the thing here is that an american band that warmly welcomed to enter the UK knows they have accomplished a certain point where thei music and projects are much more open-minded and well grown regarding matters of the world and not only the-girl-next-door we used to see in BSB songs (sorry for the blast from the past.). that is what most american bands try so hard to get nowadays and they only sense it's rewardness when british eyes are on them.
and it goes the other way around as well. for bands such as britpop-daddys blur and oasis, america has always been the dream stage for the global meaning of its musical industry and the columbus-esque feeling that's giving to them by the american-love. if they get US love, they got the whole world.
maybe some people will think this is bull, but there are lot of bands around us who are human-prooves of what i just said.

Blur – The Universal Lyrics 20 years ago
the clockworkd orange inspired video is only the perfect match for the song's theme. which is distortions of the futuristic image. the song is definately about that theory from damon of how people in the future will all be addicted to prozac. he's said that a million times, so there's no way we, mortals, can try to spin it around any more...

Blur – Charmless Man Lyrics 20 years ago
nightandday, good shot! that's exactly what i though when i saw the speculation. actually, what i've heard several times in intervies with damon is that this song is about HIM! yeeaaah, about his old self and the self-consciousness he's had to deal with as a kid and as a art freak. no doubt, everyone knows how the blur dudes are all from more fortunate families, and damon was quite a mommy's boy. even in in his twenties it was notable.

Blur – Beetlebum Lyrics 20 years ago
it's not she'll make you cum.
it's actually COME
no doubt about that.
and there's no justine rancor in it.
it is about the whole drug use he used to have. i never heard of him using heroine, painbearer, where did you see that? for what i know damon was quite fond of cocaine back then, hense the panic-attack era in the great escape and blur.

OK Go – There's A Fire Lyrics 20 years ago
it's the pain of someone who needs to pour it all out but can't, which makes it roll down into this giant snowball that doesn't work as an excuse for his silence. it's a rather simple, but real song. and i like the way the melodies makes this kind of stomache-ache feeling seem like just a provocatively nice emotion.

OK Go – Hello, My Treacherous Friends Lyrics 20 years ago
i still haven't found the meaning of this song. but coming here helped A LOT! the whole thing of irony, i thought of that, since the title makes the presence of sarcasm obvious. the spiders, i don't know. for me they're almost like little feelings in everyone's worlds that can sometimes be dangerous. just like the 'treacherous friend'. it's a feeling we all have when a friend isn't what we actually expect.

new fellow from my new town sat me down
and explained it to me:
how when I spin from him I spin from myself,
the center can double the speed of the crust.

i also find this very beginning interesting. but i still haven't figured out what kulash ment by that. i think the whole semiotics thing was totally worth it! :)

OK Go – A Million Ways Lyrics 20 years ago
it didn't only cost a total of 13 bucks.
the guys produced it without the record label's notion of it.
and the best part is that it is already the most downloaded music video in history with over 3 million downloads! (three zero zero zero zero zero zero cruel)
