To me this song seems like it's about video games and how people become so obsessed with them. And take veerything tehy see in it literally. Like they see someone in a video game kill somebody so they think it's ok as well. "how are you going to turn this thing off this isn't at all like the ones back at home" ^ they find a real gun and do the same thin, except with real people. "it's a hit but are you actually sure the targets in the crowd are a blur the people screaming just like they should but you don't even know if you're good" Another example of that. They take an actual gun and start shooting their school up or something. All the people are screaming, maybe that's how it was in the video game as well. And you don't even know if your good means there's no point system or anything because this is actually real life. "you shut your eyes and flip the cassette and that's about the time that they hit" Maybe he was listening to music while doing it, maybe even the music from the video game. And in all aspects of their life, the video games control them. I took the "You my guitar hero" as being they're way of telling a friend or gf that they love them. They don't know any other way to express themselves becasue they've become so wrapped up in their technology. In the actual song... the last line sounds like "And I could save you baby but there's a million more in line." But, that's just how it sounds to me. I'm pretty sure the lyrics on this page are a little bit wrong And if that^ is actually the line then... He was madly in love with her, but she wasn't with him. She wasn't willing to die for love in this, he on the other hand was and that's why he tried to kill her. wait after re listenign tot eh sond and re reading the lyrics i change my analysis... in the 1st verse its talking about how she is walking down her street by her apartment building where the fire was started... im asuming by the person in the last verses when she's discussing how he ahd one alternative and how she wont die for him. im assuming its her talking about how she ahs a boyfriend whos a bit self obbsesed and since she doesnt love him back n teh way he wants hes going to kill them both. But, ironically what he wanted to happen... didnt as the fire stopped right before her apartment leaving her alive. In the second verse its talking about how she's walking down her street by the her apartment and all the guys in the neighborhood and yelling comments at her about how the want to take her home with them. My interpretation: Verse 1: She's walking down her street and sees a fire occuring then sees all the firemen rushing to save the victims. She's saying how in her life whenever there is a 'fire' no one rushes to save her like these men are doing. Verse 2: The difference between men and women. The bnoys are always after one thing and when she says she wonders if this method has ever been effective shes referring to them always asking the girl for sex and not wanting a real relationship. "Has any girl in history said "Sure, you seem so nice, let's get it on" Still, I always shock them when I answer, "Hi, my name's Amanda" Then there she's talking about how girls more so want a relationship as apposed to sex like the men want. And she shocks them by introducing herself becasue in a sense its making her appear as a real person to them and not something they can play with. Verse 3: Stating how she doesn't want to stuck into just one mold and one path that she seems to be drawn to. "And even if I went with you, I'm not the girl you think I am" Refers back to the 2nd verse when the guys were trying to take her home. Even if she goes with them its not for the reason tehy hope for shes just looking for someone who will hold her and care about her and the sex isn't what's important. Then its said again after the verse about the "obssesive relationship" I think in this part its saying that 'despite what you think I'm not the girl you think I am and I won't die for you and I'm not the one thats crazy'. Verse 8: Wakes up during during the fire which has oddly skipped her house. Maybe the boyfriend started the fire and he was trying to kill her with him but ironically it was her apartment that it stopped on and didn't kill her like he had planned. To sum it all up, I think the song is about bad luck with relationships and wanting to just have one relationship where you love someone adn they love you back and not have to deal with all the nonsense. |

i think its about someone who is on the road of self destruction. in this case using drugs [heroin] hence the line "evil equals needles" then it says "...so i shut my eyes again" so basically they are addicted to it and its controlling them in a sense and cant stop. they are however ashamed of it all. The first time I heard this song I simply thought it was about Gravity. Discussing her many attempts to try and fly. In the beginning she's talking to the officer about an accident that has occured from attempting. "Down at work I'm getting too familiar with the floor Trading in my talents by the mouthful" That could be she hates having to woalk everywhere when she could do so much more with the ability to fly. "Gravity plays favorites I know it cause I saw" ^Her being envious of the birds that can fly and yet here she is stuck having to walk.
