I think it's mocking that fact that so many people don't read into the meanings or intentions behind certain musicians and songs and dismiss them as just another band that sounds the same as all the rest, and that someone should just get rid of them. Alot of the lyrics are just a description of how said demographic thinks the bands are created (not literally, just in the sense of them being cocky assholes). This song always makes me think of PMRC. |

I love this song, purely for the fact that stupid ass mother fuckers like the ones arguing on this comment thread, get pissed off because of the one punch line. The fact that something that you don't understand, or even want to try and understand pisses you off that bad, makes my day.
This comment, will also probably piss you off, because you never bothered to figure out what the song lyrics mean.

Ok after thinking more i think it's related to more of the fact that fans will jump from one band to the next insulting the last one with the 3 s', when in turn they're the ones who have these issues. |

Actually, my dumbass fault, at 2:17 in "last" you hear the same guitar riff with drum beat, the one in happiness in slavery is kinda similar, but this is for sure it. |

A guitar riff and drum beat are entirely ripped off of a nine inch nails song (or 2 not sure) and I do believe they were doing remixes with Chris Vrenna, which leads me to believe this song was aimed at trent reznor.
It's what it seems like at least. |

You've los everything, you've started using of course, like that's a hard thing to get into once you accept the realities of life, but it basically explains as you use, the only thing real about is the pain yu feel putting he needle in, like using is just as normal as brushing your teeth.
then the chrous speaks of how the character feels ashamed from becoming a monster compared to someone he was close to earlier in life, that he is now a monster compared to the compassionate being he once was
the next part is almost like a warning, almost, but self loathing in a pure form at the same time, any one single person on the face of the earth could form the same habits(not just drugs you morons) could become numb to reailty existance as a whole, become detatched from themselves, lose their humanity.
then the character shares that even though he may portray himself as, or people may view him as something great, he is not, and in his mind he sees it and cannot forget the fat that he has become a monster. he hasn't grown at all and everything in life is passing by.
character then states that while he stays th same all those around him seem to become aware, move on and find meaning in life.
chorus repeats then in the end it's a statement of utter despair and longing, longing to have a 2nd chance, to live life to it's fullest, to not let life itself destroy you.
please think about these songs more, i know to alot of you NIN is nothing more than "oh it's more of that teenage angst crap again" but the more you look into it the more you realize this applies to everyone on the face of the earth who's ever had any sort of a chance to make a decision.
