| i love music. because 10 people could have 10 totally different interpretations of the same song. to me this song. is about a guy who has this friend, who absolutely changed his world. and they had an amazing time together. but then that friend went away and forgot about him when something better came along. then she get her heart broken. and turn back to that old friend. but then the cycle just keeps going on. and the "always there for" friend tries to get het friend outta his life. but she keeps coming back. and he keeps getting his heart broken time and time again | |

I fell in love with this song the first time i heard it. at the time i was going through a hard time with my best friend. i did something stupid. and lost her trust. i cant even remember what it was now. because we have overcome so much stuff together. but at the time. it was the end of the world. if your best friend doesnt trust you. you have nothing. i remember listening to this song. and talking to her. and her telling me how much i had hurt her. and i thought she was like fine the whole time and didnt even care about me at all. so i decided to just let her go instead of hurting her more. so i went over to her house. and left this song on a cd on her porch. she listened to it and knew exactly what i was saying. but i ended up hurting her more by saying i wanted to let her go. everytime this song comes on the radio in the car or something. we just look at eachother. and it still brings me to tears. amazing. powerful song. my interpretation: there is two people. in some kind of relationship. "I've got to be honest I think you know" -- both people know something is wrong. but they just go on pretending everythings alright. finally person 1 is owning up and saying the truth out loud to person 2. "We're covered in lies and that's OK There's somewhere beyond this I know" -- they both know they are lying about being alright. but they go on pretending everything is ok. person 1 believes its alright because he/she knows in the end it will work out. because their relationship goes deeper than whatever happened between the two of them. "But I hope I can find the words to say Never again no No never again" -person 1 messed up somehow. and is trying to find a way to ask for forgiveness. and is promising it wont ever happen again. "'Cause you're a god And I am not And I just thought That you would know" --person 1 thinks person 2 is just amazing. and perfect. and person 1 thinks him/herself is just a fuck up. and they are telling person 2 that this is how they think of them. "You're a god And I am not And I just thought I'd let you go" --person 1 just keeps telling person 2 how amazing and perfect person 2 is while person 1 is just like mediorcre. and since person 2 is so much better. person 1 just thinks they are going to fuck up again and wants to let person 2 go before he/she hurts person 2 more. "But I've been unable To put you down" --person 2 wants to say hurtful things to person 1. but person 2 loves person 1 too much to try and hurt them. "I'm still learning things I ought to know by now It's under the table so I need something more to show somehow" --person 1 either just found out they are actually hurting person 2 by the way they were lying or messing up. but person 2 keeps it hidden. person 1 wants to prove themselves more to person 2. ~overall i think the song is someone who hurt someone else that they loved. and they didnt want to hurt that person anymore. so they decided to just let the other person go. but they still believed in the end they would be alright. because the love they share is deeper than anything else. |
