Also, the line "Fear of spooking the folk, with talk of the third" may refer to the reaction of many people when the probe was lost, saying there was a NASA cover-up. The probe he is reffering to is the US Mars Observer probe. In the last post I mistakenly wrote about the probe lost in 1989. |

| Frank Black said "I almost saw the lost Mars probe of '93, and became lonely when I feared there was only sky." The song is about the probe Phobos II sent by the Russians (sent off to observe, like human eyes out of the head) not appearing "Well that's just how some things don't materialize." Why didn't it appear? Maybe it jsut broke and fell to the planet, or maybe the aliens took the probe as a joke. | |
