i think its important to realize that in most schwarzenbach songs there are both literal and figurative meanings. thats whhat makes his songs so incredible. they have different layers of meaning. i also think its important to note that in interviews blake seems to over simplify the meanings of his songs to the bemusement of the interviewer |

I think this song is about the music scene in general and the pressures that Blake felt to be "punk." He writes, "Its gonna be a sing along," meaning everyone will have a polarized reaction - hate it or love it.
"They'll laugh about it at the warehouse, saying I'm so lame - it wrote itself, you can keep the blame." Well, sounds like you're blaming somebody, Blake!
"There are times for being dumb, this must be one of them." As in, times in history, not times in a fleeting sense. |

i love how this song expresses life being like a perpetual high school experience. all the lyrics not only apply to being in school, but stand as metaphor for life in general. its so sad and sweet. |

i think the "blew twelve, kissed the 13th" is referring to his inability to find meaning in the relationship until its over. 13 is simply an unlucky number. for some reason i think of 12 hours... but there are 24 hours in a revenge therapy... i mean a day. |

this is a true schwarzenbach composition.
"you've grown more beautiful - since you took off - what can I do? i'm in love with you - and it won't stop"
i think the "you" can mean either blake or his love interest. for example - he's healthier now that the relationship is over. it can also mean, though, that he needs her now more that their apart. the best part is when he says, "it won't stop," because it can mean that her abusing him won't stop or his love for her won't die.
"the prophecies were realized - when we gave them proper time - all thruths come to light - after lies have their night"
the prophecies of him being crushed or of him being lonely? possibly both??? blake lies to himself and he sees this after a night with a woman who hurts him or a night alone realizing that he can't be alone. |

this song is amazing. its about self doubt and surrender. this song can make me cry if i let it. when he says "thin sheet across the whole face" he means that he's self-doubt conceils his expression of emotion. blake can't get over himself. he'll never be happy moving and changing. |
