| Mischief Brew – Nomads Revolt Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is fucking amazing. I adore Mischeif Brew and the Orphans. I think its talking about getting older, and that feeling of nostalgia when you see people you haven't seen in a long time getting older. I know that feeling so perfectly... like when you find out one of your childhood best friends gets drunk a lot or is pregnant... they should stay little kids, don't you think? And it makes you want to go back to your old ways "throwing rocks in the river" And unfortunately the nomads, the kids who didn't know what their place in the world was, are settling down into regular lives. |

| The Libertines – Arbeit Macht Frei Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, Arbeit Macht Frei WAS written on many of the gates to concentration camps- I just took a facing history coarse that was largely centered around learing about the holocost- and it does mean "Work Sets you Free." "The guard said he could stay alive But he has to shovel And burn his people to die - even if you die" Is referring to the work that the Jewish people had to do to their own people in the holocost. They were forced to shovel the dead into piles or ditches, and/or burn them. "In her rollers And a gasper Cleaning the steps in a mean street Where no policeman walks the beat" Maybe talking about people who weren't Jewish, black, or gay, and weren't put into concentraition camps? "(her old man) he don't like blacks or queers (yet he's proud he beat the nazis? - how queer...)" I'm not sure what the Libertines are trying to say by this... Maybe it has something to do with going along with things? I have no clue. |

| Shiny Toy Guns – Le Disko Lyrics | 19 years ago |

To me its more about being a sex tease and screwing with guys heads. -Hello little boys, little toys We're the dreams you're believin'- Calling boys little toys, and saying that they are who the boys have been wanting. -Crawling up the walls Running down your face- Could refer to teasing. Getting far away, and then getting next to persons face. -Razor sharp, Razor clean Feel the weapon's sensation On your back with loaded guns- I think it might be talking about S & M, or it could just be talking about regular sex. -Now hold onto me pretty baby If you want to fly- Having sex. -I'm gonna melt the fever sugar Rolling back your eyes- Orgasm. -We're gonna ride the race cars We're gonna dance on fire- I think its talking about their sexual technique, and how its going. -We're the girls Le Disco Supersonic overdrive- Again, saying that they're desired. It could be referring to prostitutes. -So what's it gonna take silver shadow believer? Spoc rocker with your dirty eyes- Silver shadow believer is kind of a reference to how women "should" be. And dirty eyes is, again, talking about sex, and sexual thoughts -It's a chance gonna move Gonna fuck up your ego Silly boy gonna make you cry- The narrators chance to screw the person over. The person pretended like they liked the boy, and now she's going to screw with the persons head and break his heart. To back up that I say, the song has very strong female lyrics. And everything referring to girls is very powerful, and men very weak. |

| Cake – Shadow Stabbing Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think it might be about suicide. The lyrics, "He moves his words like a prize fighter The frenzied pace of the mind inside the cell" Could refer to someone writing a suicide note, and the frenzy to get it done, and the uncertantly of what to say. Saying that the person is inside of a cell might refer to being trapped in their own head. "I'm so nervous I'm so tense My heart can't forget about this self defense" Could be talking about the person wanting to commit suicide, and being nervous. The words about the person's heart could be saying that something bad happened to them. Self defence could be referring to suicide its self, as being a form of defence and not having to cope with the world anymore. "The air is so hot and my breath comes fast I thumb the cool blade but I know this can't last" Could be referring to nerves before actually killing him/herself. The blade could be a knife that was going to be used for the act. "The man on the street might just as well be..." Might be saying how it could be anyone, even that person you see on the street. You don't know what's going on in anyone's minds or inner lives. yep. |

| Against Me! – Searching for a Former Clarity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yeah its probably AIDS. But when I first heard it I could have sworn it was cancer. The symptoms would be similar, teeth blackening (can happen), in chemotherapy you loose weight, lesions of cancer on your skin... This song hits me so hard because my dad had cancer, and this describes it so perfectly. He was so brilliant, and I feel like he really hated all the terrible things that cancer brought to his head and... I don't know it's hard to explain. |

| Dead Kennedys – Chickenshit Conformist Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The Dead Kennedys have to be one of my all-time favorite bands. In my opinion this song is about how you don't have to dress punk (the Dead Kennedys didn't have the sterotypical punk Sid Vicious look), and if you do it means absolutely nothing about you. -It also talks about how all the "punks" quit by the time they're in their late 20's because they grow out of it and they have to conform to a real job to pay the bills. And how before that they act like they're better and more "punk" than everyone (you know you've seen those people that send everyone who they don't know dirty looks because nobody could possibly be as cool as them.) -And how the "scene" is being distroyed by druggies, thugs, gangs, theives, and liers. -Music isn't about anything important anymore, or even about music. Its either all ideas and no sound or all sound and no ideas. I think the line "like your parents" might be referring to the generation of hippies, who quit their ways and communes and got real jobs. |
