The Strokes – Heart In A Cage Lyrics 19 years ago
I love the "heart in a cage" metaphor as well. I see like, his heart belongs to someone that he can't be with. So, his hearts cage instead of free with whomever he loves. he's in a cage also when hes in a city but he just wants to be out in a field.

i see it as the two broke up becuase theyre too different from one another. "I don't want what you want/I don't feel what you feel" they had there differences and the line "steal your fire" might have to do with a reason they broke up.

Brand New – Flying at Tree Level (Version 1.0) Lyrics 19 years ago
The lyrics on the cd say starters don't they? and besides, i think it makes more sense as starters because i don't really see this song as a song about relationships. Someone earlier, (sorry i dont remember) said that the song was about the struggle to make the band successful and how they're taking fame, but how "I see my baby" didnt make sense. well
"I see my baby
She's starry eyed
She follows
Don't call me a god "
That does kinda fit, i see my 'baby', baby being maybe a fan, "she follows, dont call me a god" well fans sometimes do say that Jesse's a genius, a god, all that. the lyrics say that he's no god, just writing what he feels and lay it all out for listeners to love or to hate.
They tried so hard to be famous and worked so hard to "hit the mark" and now that they have, people wont give them a break, judging them, using their lyrics however they want, "you either push or pull" demanding things of them, they probably feel like now they constantly have to live up to what they've made before, and its true, there is no room for error once your famous, or wellknown. with such loyal fans, if they made something people felt not up to par, the critizism would be so harsh.

The Receiving End Of Sirens – Venona Lyrics 20 years ago
Maybe this is a stupid question, but shouldn't the song be named Verona? Not, Venona? Obviously this has something to do with Romeo and Juliet, like someone else pointed out at the end it says "Do you like what you see?Oh Romeo"
Also, phrases like 'star-crossed lovers' are directly from the play (that phrase in the prologue). The play is set in Verona, Venona is a close spelling... but not exact.. am I missing something?
