I personally think that all of you are looking at the song with far too narrow a scope. The truth is, this song, along with the entire album in general, is chock full of double meanings and many different perspectives. Honestly, listen to the album while on the psychedelic of your choice, whether it be mushrooms, acid, mescaline or ecstasy. You will understand. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Another Version of the Truth Lyrics

To those who think that this is not as spectacular an instrumental as Trent's previous works, I recommend having another listen. This song, as well as every other song on Year Zero, is much more subtle in its magnificence than Trent Reznor's other albums. It takes a great many listens (possibly even a listen while on ecstasy) to truly appreciate it's splendor. |

| Nine Inch Nails – The Hand That Feeds Lyrics

THTF's riff is actually a couple steps higher than The Kinks. It has a little more distortion to it too. You never hear people bitching about how every rock song of the 50s and 60s has the same 145 blues progression do you? I agree with the Canadian. This is about Trent's own feelings of having done nothing to combat the recent rise of fascism. He is asking himself, but it's a question we should be asking ourselves as well. People bitch about politics all the time, but everyone's so goddamn lazy to actually do anything about it. Everyone is so desperate to believe that voting is the medium of change, but we just keep electing the same rich white assholes every time. So we need to stage a coup. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics

Hurt alludes to Trent's heroin addiction. He did indeed admit that he had a problem with heroin and that he overdosed in London, which brought about his rehabilitation. All the love in the world picks up where Hurt left off, stating "I've become a million miles away," or perhaps it was Trent's version of The Divine Comedy. TDS is his inferno, The Fragile his purgatorio, and With Teeth his paradiso. |
