this song is so pretty! I have to disagree, i think she is being sincere in 'everything being just wonderful'. it's like even thought the world is so corrupt and has the wrong morals, etc. she accepts that is just the way 'the cookie crumbles' and she is still happy as she is. |

This song makes me think of the narrator being in a marriage that has grown sour, and while the one person is still deeply in love, the other has long lost that feeling and now just abuses their partner. The narrator is so blindly and madly in love that they can't see what is really happening. He/She has their 'photograph of time' and keeps looking for 'hints' and 'little symbols' although, there are none. The narrator is saying that the 'fists' and 'whips' is done out of love - as though it is their partners only way of expressing his/her love. That's how I enterperate the song, but some of you guys seem to make more sense than me! |
