Saosin – Bury Your Head Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a relationship which started off good but went sour because there was too much pressure on what oher people think about it.

They tried hard to make it work, but "They went back on us,
(closed eyes rolled back couldn't step it up)"

He really loves the other person and prays for their well-being "I'll sleep tonight when you're okay,
And I will then say it's okay"

Escape the Fate – My Apocalypse Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is as Ronnie said about betrayal but a whole load of other things too.

There are many symbols in the song. Firstly the 'man with an axe'. To me his the good guy out of all of this because he advises the singer to 'destroy the guillotine' and informs him that he will die if he falls asleep. On the other hand the man can be the devil himself, as Ronnie finds him in a place of 'fire and trees' which resembles hell- a place of punishment.

In the Chorus, the singer says 'I walk with shadows'. This may well be a biographical song as Ronnie has been in many troubles with the law, the most recent being him and his friend being involved in a murder case. The shadows are a symbol of his friends who restrict him from escaping his fate, the harsh punishment (the gallows) and they keep him 'safe and sound' which is why he can't bear to let go of them. He friends (the shadows) are his only comfort in the world of punishment which is why he never dares to question their action 'the questions i will never say' so he is condemned to walk in their shadows.

The second verse is the singer wanting an earthquake to shake his pity 'off the ground'. This may be self-pity. He might be feeling pity for himself for allowing his life to get out of control. It might also be other people's pity towards him making him feel helpless and dependant like a child. At the end of the verse, it seems that the 'man with an axe' returns advising him not to trust his misguiding friends 'don't trust these liars', he must also get rid of those people who have the answers, the pityful advice which they give because they have no idea 'Kill the ones that have the answers for...'

At the end Ronnie screams 'all the vibrant colours i see and the shades that fill the grey' There may be two possible endings for this:
1. He may have indeed destroyed the guillotine (his scheming friends) and that means he has stopped hiding from the gallows and step out of the shadows. However, he still sees the grey colours because no matter how he overcomes his troubles,it'll always linger at the back of his mind. It's like drug addiction, you can become clean but you can never get rid of the addicition itself...

2. However it could be public humiliation from a public execution because he failed to destroy the guillotine and it is from the guillotine in which he must die. This is not explicit in the song, obviously. The vibrant colours are the crowds of people surrounding him including his scheming friends, humiliating him and the grey is death approaching him then he dies a painful death.

Anyway, it is important to say that his death would have been inevitable because he would have had to fall asleep in the end if not punished by the gallows.

This is the most visual song i've ever heard. The music tells the story as much as the words.

Scott Matthews – Elusive Lyrics 18 years ago
i luurve this song.

In my opinion it's about a girl who he's truly in love with, but she's defensive because she's been hurt in the past:'poisoned victim' and the song is basically the ups and downs of their relationship, i could say more but can't be arsed

Thirteen Senses – The Salt Wound Routine Lyrics 18 years ago
i know the meaning of the song, it's quite obvious but some of the lyrics don't make senses to me for example what does he mean by 'red letters'? and 'faces drop into the fire'?

Thirteen Senses – Into The Fire Lyrics 19 years ago
i love this song! i also think it means taking a risk and about doing something you've never done before. i love the bit where it says 'turning white and senses dying' because when you burn metal in fire it turns white. 'turn and meet that power' does sound demonic but i think it is talking about consequences because when you put your hands into the fire, you meet the power and that could be a bad thing but you never know unless you try it.

it could also mean putting your hand into your heart and finding your true self because i think the heart is the organ of fire.
