| How has this song only got one other comment so far? Has to be one of the most lovely songs I've heard for a while, totally calms me down. Unfortunatley, "What this song means to me", is not a particularly positive thing...I have found this boy, I really, really like him because he's so different to anybody I've ever met...and unfortunatley this song fits perfectly with him and this other girl. Yeah, so this song makes me sad. I still love it though...such a beautiful voice. | |

I adore this song. I think the lyrics are talking about people pushing and rushing around, and eventually you just end up down and useless. The repetition of words like "Come on" and "Come here", I think exaggerates the idea of people rushing around and trying to get whatever it is done. Stuck on the end Of this ball and chain And I'm on my way back down again Stood on the edge Tied to the noose Sick to the stomach You can say what you mean But it won't change a thing I love the way it just basically tells everybody to piss off and leave him to it, "You can say what you mean, but it won't change a thing". I think this fits in with my idea of being rushed around. Maybe he's not ready for it. I like the way the tempo is so slow, and contradicts the beginning of the song completely, it like says to the listener "If you're hassled, listen to this song, and it'll help you realise that "time is on your side". Somebody said that in a roundabout way this song could be referring to drugs, but I am leaning more towards the idea that the saviour in this song is another person, perhaps a lover or a friend. Whatever, but I think that's the meaning of the bit where it says "Tied to the noose, but you came along and you cut me loose". Love this song, love the beginning especially |

I love this song completely and utterly with all my heart!! No, seriously I think it's such a gorgeous song...it's probably one of my favourites and has definatley been my most listened to on I-Tunes for a while now. You'll find it hiding in shadows You'll find it hiding in cupboards It will walk you home safe every night It will help you remember I think that's all referring to stupid feelings and smells and sounds that we attach to certain people and when they're gone for whatever reason we still find comfort in those things. If that's way it is Then that's the way it is Could be referring to the break-up, or the loss or whatever. If that's the way it is, that's the way it is and we can't change it. I still feel you and the taste of cigarettes What could I ever run to Maybe like somebody said before the person and the cigarettes are both bad habits, and the "What could I ever run to" means after they've given up the person and cigarettes, what else is there to turn to? Just tell me it's tearing you apart Just tell me you cannot sleep The problems in the relationship, or the end of the relationship, or whatever caused it. And you didn't even notice When the sky turned blue And you couldn't tell the difference Between me and you And I nearly didn't notice The gentlest feeling Not noticing or perhaps not understanding what's going on. You are the bluest light I think all the mention of wavelengths is right...like theres a bond between these two people that's short and compact, like blue having the shortest wavelength. However I think that this song is about being in a relationship, whether it's just a friendship or something more, and feeling like it's ending. Like the part where it says "And you didn't even notice when the sky turned blue..." maybe something has died inside the other person and the relationship is failing because of that? Whatever, I don't care what it means, I'm sure it means something different to everyone, all I know is that it cheers me up and makes me cry and the same time. Any song that can bring out both those emotions has got to be a good one, right? |
